1 I started taking FOSAMAX 3 weeks ago and started experiencing severe joint and muscles pains two days after taking the first dose. Doctors were confused and started making laboratory tests to determine if I was suffering from Remathoid Arthirtis or lupus. Fortunately the lab tests were negative and the conclusion was that Fosamax caused me the severe pain and disability to work for 3 weeks. Of course I stopped taking Fosamax and today I am feeling "alive" again and back to work. Take care and be careful. |

In my third week of drug-noticing joint pain. It was in my right hip-so I thought it was do to known osteoarthritis. Then it moved to left hip and ankles.

I have been taking fosamax for a year almost, had aches and pains and swallowing problems at night which ( swallowing, dryness)I put down to post radiotherapy, aches I assumed were osteoporosis related. Then 2 days ago I took a weekly dose, had the usual morning can't get up problem, after 10 mins horrendous lower back pain. I have acromegaly, hence the ongoing steriods, which caused the problem in the first place, maybe? I ran marathons for many years 26 milers so this would too have contributed. Steroids are for life, so I am not sure how this will work out yet, but I certainly am not going to take anymore fosamax, I am to go and get something else on Monday

I just started my 3rd mth and I can barely walk from severe knee and ankle pain. my lower back is starting to hurt really bad, along with my hips and finger joints. this is ridiculous! I am going back to dr.mon. for something different.
I heard from my pharmacist that there is a nasal spray without those side effects. will post it later. |

There are many reasons for joint pains, so it's best to see what your doctor has to say. But then again, i managed to relive my good and active times again after using this product from my home country.
It's called MediLynk TGC (Transdermal Glucosamine Cream). Available in 2 types High Strength(75g / 45g) & Capsaicin (45g). Transdermal is that company's propriety technology where the medicine are encapsulated into water-soluble molecules and applied through your skin directly to the affected area. Glucosamine on the other hand is often used used to kill joint pains and promote cartilage health. This is though a premium product, but they cost only about US$20 - US$30 per tube before freight charges. My mum used it and felt that it's useful. Personally, i'm also a very sporty person who engages in alot of sports, and i think it's something really worth. Yet, there is no known side effects. Oh yeah, it's not just something that can be applied when you're in pain. Even if you're healthy, applying it regularly and ensure healthy joints even in your twilight years. I think they have an online store for international sales, so go ahead and take a look.:) http://www.lynkbiotech.com/products.asp |

I've been taking Fosamax for about 5 years and at the end of last year I started getting severe lower back pain. It feels like a thousand tiny needles are poking me. I still have it today.
At times during the day, I have to sit down. An ice pack helps, pumping 9 Advil a day with doctor approval didn't help. I'm pretty sure it's an inflammation as I can feel the heat on my back in the area where I have the most pain. I have a doctor appt and plan to ask for body density scan as a baseline and stop taking Fosamax. My bone density scans have not shown improvement with the product. So the question will be if the bone density declines without the Fosamax. Has anyone changed drugs away from Fosamax to have less back pain? There was a 2004 press release that Forteo was likely to cause lower back pain but I've never heard of this product. http://www.prnewswire.co.uk/cgi/news/release... |

I was told to take Forteo which is an
injection you do yourself. It is very expensive, costing $7,000 a year and my insurance would not pay for it. Besides, it causes bone cancer in mice, and they are not sure if the same would be true in women. I decided I would not take that chance. I have tried both Fosamax and Actenol, only to find out my osteo has worsened. I am NOT taking any drugs now. The side effects are not worth it. Good Luck |

I took 4 doses of Fosomax over a one month period and developed thumb pain. Has anyone else experienced this?

I started my first dose of Fosomax on Saturday. On Sunday my bone pain was so bad I could not get out of bed finally when I did I was on the sofa all day. It is Monday now the back pain is somewhat diminished but my chest hurts like someone hit me with a baseball bat! I can't bend over..I have to stand straight or start crying from the pain. No more Fosomax for me!

Started Fosamax six weeks ago and after three doses pain started in my right hip joint. Did'nt make the connection then but after another two doses and worsening of the pain it twigged with me. Came across this and other sites with similar stories and now i'm off it. I brought much of this info to GP who is very open to it. The huge variety of side effects being experienced by people is not documented on the drug manuals used by doctors. How come the trials are'nt showing these side effects? It may be that many people who experience many of these side effects accept joint pain as part of osteoporosis and don't link it with Fosomax. Al very worrying.

I've been on Fosamax for six weeks and I've been experiencing thumb pain as well as muscle pain in my upper arm. I also get flu like symptoms the day I take the pill which eventually diminish. I have no energy and also have not been sleeping well. I'm making a Dr. appt. today and I'm going to tell her I'm not taking this prescription any longer. My Mother will be 90 this month and she's never taken any medications. |
