Hi my name is Susan. I have been taking Fosamax for a while and I seemed to have lost some hair on the back of my head. My doctor said it is from my taking Fosamax. Is this possible? Please let me know what i should do. thanks

Ever since taking Fosamax, I've been getting very bad pains in the inside of my lower arm. It starts to hurt when I walk a very short distance and continues until I'm close to tears. The only relief I get is if I stop walking and raise my arms.

I have been taking Fosamax for about 3 years, about a year and a half ago my hair started to fall out, mostly on the top, I am wondering about this after reading about Susan. Corry |

I'm wondering if there are any more people taking Fosamax that are experiencing hair loss.

A friend of mine has been taking fosamax and she is experiencing pains in her breast and her breast bone.

I took Fosamax for over a year and had terrible heartburn. I now use Actonel and do not have those symtoms. I did lose a lot of hair over the past six months or so but it seems to be growing back or at least the rate of hair loss has slowed down quite a bit.

I started my treatment with Fosamax 3 weeks. Two days after my first pill I experienced a severe gastritis of which I recovered and I have been suffering of severe muscles and joints pains ever since. My doctor sent me laboratory tests to determine if I have remathoid arthritis or lupus but all tests were negative. Has anyone experienced severe pain in muscles and joints accompanied by low fever after taking Fosamax ? I am very confused and sad.

Has anyone had excessive belching and/or flatuence from taking Foxamax weekly?
Thank you, Judy |

I took one dose last Sunday (2 days ago) and within 18 hours, woke up in the middle of the night with back spasms. The pain in my muscular-skeletal tissues is intense and it feels like I have an elephant sitting on my chest - but it's not a heart attack related feeling of tightness. I have muscular pain that runs from the base of my neck and throughout my entire torso. It hurts just to move. Has anyone else had these symptoms and if so, how long did it take for them to disappear?

My husband has been taking Fosamax for a few years now. This was to counteract the possible bone thinning side effects of steroids which he has had to take to control his asthma.
He has been having muscle and joint pain and fevers. He has also started having intermittent pain in his hip and a feeling that the joint is loose and wobbling about. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms. We were also wondering if the Fosomax could be making his asthma symptoms worse? |

I have been taking fosamax for 7 months now also to counteract thinning from steroids. Prior to fosamax I took Actonel for 5 years and didronel for 1 year. Abt 4 months ago I started having terrible aches and pains in soles of feet, knees, and now this has spread to arms and hands. First thought it was acute arthritis but the pain now consumes my whole body.Having discovered on a different forum that out of over 400 people over 300 are experiencing similar symptoms I am discontinuing immediately and hoping for the best. What to take in its place is the next question.

Why did you stop taking Actonel? I changed from Fosamax to Actonel and have had no side-effects. With fosamax I had terrible heart burn and chest pains.

Kathleen - i am into my second day. the pain you describe is exactly what im feeling. its amazing how deep the soreness/ache truly is. at first i though it was from sleeping the wrong way - but the pain is too unifirorm across neck and chest. this is not for me. now im only wondering how long before these effects leave my body and the pill is out of my system ? |

Yes to both questions not to mention the swelled belly that I have since taking Fosamax Sandra |

I also take Fosamax and have been experiencing severe back spasms. I have seen two neurologists; they have not been able to diagnose the problem. I have undergone MRIs and will now need to undergo another - tissue scan since the others have shown no obvious trauma. |

Hi Susan,
yes I too have noticed hair loss which has suddenly become quite dramatic. I have been on Fosamax for abut 3 years and it has done a grat job of halting the degeneration of my bones but I defintely don't want to end up bald. |

I have been taking Fosamax for osteopenia. I took it for 4 months. At the 3 month mark, I experienced sharp jabbbing pains in left jaw. I went to urgent care and they found nothing to cause this. I week later my entire mouth felt like there was a film over all of it especially teeth. I lost all sense of taste. I went to the dentist who also could find nothing. My mouth now has small sores on lower inside lip. I saw my DR. yesterday, who also could find no explanation. I was told to drink more water and use diluted Listerine several times a day. After checking online, I am now convinced that Fosamax is the culprit. Has anyone else had these symptoms?

I developed TMJ (severe jaw pain) along with dizziness and ringing in the ears after taking Fosamax and Actenol for 3 years. I never put the two together until I saw my dentist. He told me he would NOT treat me until I was off these poisons. I have been off a year, but still have mild jaw problems and some ringing in the ears, and back and joint pain. You are lucky you connected your problem so early before taking this junk as long as I did. Good luck |

I started on Fosamax 2 years ago for osteopenia, and since then have experienced a steady loss of hair.
It is brittle and lackluster, breaks easily and is severely thinning. My osteopenia has reversed and I think I'm going to go off the fosamax. I'll talk with my Gynecologist and just monitor my bone density for awhile. |
