Finally a case where the FDA is not proclaiming "vtamins are worthless".

At some point Big Pharma will have the idea to combine Folic Acid with something else in a single pill for the treatment of Spina Bifida. At that point, the FDA will declare the new pill "safe and effective", and will immediately commission a quick new study from a contractor that will find "Folic Acid useless for Spina Bifida".

The reality is that there are tests today that can be done for Down Syndrome and Spina Bifia..which allows the mother to chose an abortion. I believe the drop is due to mothers choosing to terminate the pregnancy...

Your information is an assumption. The more likely reason for a decline in these births is due to White women who have abortions, rather than those taking folic acid. A sad but true fact.

I agree. Not all women are as stupid as Sarah Palin, who got preggers well after age 40 and then declined to terminate when she was flat out told her kid would be a downsie.

In this era, there's no excuse for burdening society with these easily detected defectives.
