After taking flomax for 9 months I started taking Avodart. About that same time frame my eye sight went blurry and I had to get a new prescription for glasses. The new prescription was much weaker because my eye sight had improved considerably. The new glasses worked fine months while I was taking Flomax and Avodart. After taking Avodart for four months, I stopped taking Flomax. Within a week my vision went blurry and my eye sight reverted back fairly close to my prior eye glass prescription.

This morning I noticed that I had blurred vision. I just saw a commercial about Flomax. It announced that there might be side affects caused by Flomax which is what I am taking. I seems to be more noticable in the morning just after I take my dose.

At 53 I am peeing like a race horse, thanks to the Binford 750 Flomax pill I take.

I started taking Flomax in November. Lately I've been experiencing blurred vision, especially after sitting at the computer for extended periods (which I do everyday in my job). I last had an eye examination and new eyeglasses Rx in August. The glasses were fine until the beginning of January. It is affecting both my near and far sightedness. I stopped taking the Flomax today and will see how if the problem stops.

I am almost 80 years old but I work well
daily and use a computer most of the time. Also
I walk well and have lots of creative energy.
I have found FlowMax works fairly well
for my urinary function, but I find my eyes
have been fading...not only the focusing
but also the visual acuity.... I regularly
take Vitimin "A" with zinc added.
One new approach I have taken is to dig out
my old prescription glasses and have found
that one works well one day and another
works better another day....and I find
that my changing eyesight is markedly
better one day and much worse the next.....
Any suggestions?

Have been taking Flomax for over a year. Not too many side effects except for the blurred vision (at distances)that I just can't handle any longer. I quit taking this stuff about six days ago and vision is still blurry (I have had a recent eye test and new glasses but no help)- in your experience how long did it take to notice a change when you quit taking it please?

Personally, I didn't suffer blurred vision in the sense of it being an issue with my eyes, but due to the weakness and lack of energy it seemed like it was harder for me to keep my eyes focused...similar to the feeling of reading for too long with out a break.

I have been taking two Flomax pills daily for several years. Stuff worked great in the beginning but not as good now. I still get up every few hours at night but I'm used to it. My eyes are blurry even with a new prescription. Avodart's side effects look worse so I'm living with Flomax. Stopping is not an option. Stuff really does reduce BPH symptoms.

I have been on Flomax for four years (I have IC). Last year my vision became very blurry--at a distance. I also had some dizziness that comes and goes. I stopped Flomax about 4 days ago--so far no change--I know it hasn't been very long. I am wondering how long it took before you noticed your vision returning to normal?

My nephew is 30 years old and he just had a new shunt placed in because his old one had calcified. We thought this might have been the reason as to why he had been having some blurred vision, seems he still has trouble focusing, he is on high blood pressure medication, and over weight, also to make matters worse he's very inactive. He's scared to death he might be diabetic, he hasn't been checked for sleep apnea, but I know for a fact he stops breathing for a few seconds when he's snoring really bad every night. Can anybody share some medical advise, I would be very grateful.

I'm 65 and took Flomax for 3 years and stopped six months ago after I had a successful TURP. Since then, I have continued to have intermittent blurry and double vision (especially in one eye). The symtoms seem to be iris mussle related, which is a known side effect of Flomax. Like others on this thread, my symtoms come and go (like eye strain). I'm on the computer for long periods of time and the problem gets worse with time. New percription on glasses didn't help. I'm curious if others have had simmilar problems that went away eventually (and how long after stopping Flomax).

I had vertigo and blurred vision develop 4 years after taking Flomax. I even ended up in occupational therapy with vestibular issues. Nothing worked until I went off FLomax, and I improved gradually over the next few months.

Began taking Flomax 1 month ago. Out of the clear blue at work one day, started losing vision in left eye. There were floaters and flashes; went to eye doctor immediately. He said that I suddenly had "posterior vitreous detachment", where the vitreous fluid pulls away from the eye. Have never had any eye issues (other than corrective lenses) prior to this. He said it can happen sudddenly "as we get older". For me, I'm not a coincidence type of guy. I believe it was the Flomax, which I stopped taking immediately. Now I have to wait 6-8 weeks to see if this event goes on the retina detachment, a very serious condition. However, by the grace of God, condition seems to be improving somewhat after one week. Obviously, I won't be taking this drug again. I really don't want to trade my eyesight for good flow, if you get my drift.

We know so little but these drugs. They obviously affect our body chemistry, and Flomax is known to affect the muscles of the eye (as well as the prostate).

I have been taking Flomax for years. I have something happening in the vision area but don't know what.
I seem to have a "foggy" condition that does not affect the strength of my eyes. The condition seems to come on after I take the medication and go into bright light, or, after I begin reading the newspaper in bright light.
The condition remains the remainder of the day.......anyone have these symptoms.

I have been taking Flomax for about 9 months. I don't know if it is related or not, but about 6 months ago I started having double vision. The image in my left eye is a little higher than in my right, and I can't seem to bring them together. I have gotten a prism in my left lense which helps some, but my brain still can't seem to join the two images. The vision in my left eye is worse than my right, and I have a kind of blind spot near the middle of the eye, so this is probably throwing me off, but it's like my brain just doesn't want to join the images any more. Anyone else have this problem?

I started on tamsulosin (Flomax)less than two weeks ago. About two days ago I started having visual problems similar to David's (#20) -- separate images from each eye that don't come together very well. It's most noticeable when I'm driving. When necessary, I close one eye in order to get a single image. I wasn't sure it was connected with the medication until I read the comments in this forum. I'll see my physician if it doesn't improve in a few days.

Capricorn

You're keen to look on the bright side of things and to ignore anything unpleasant or worrying. That's fine, provided that you're ready to face up to life's difficulties again tomorrow. But it's not such good news if you persist in looking the other way whenever a problem presents itself, especially if it's connected with your work or health. It may be time to face a few facts, Capricorn.
