Flomax

I have just started Flomax. Does anyone have anything good to say about the drug. Will it increase urinary flow?

I don't have much good to say about Flomax!

I have found that Flomax does increase urinary flow and that it eases some of the discomfort during urination. Hooray for that!

However, I am seeing my doctor on September 13th to get off the drug (I'm away from home now and won't be back until then).

After taking Flomax for a while and experiencing mild chest discomfort and mild shortness of breath that seemed to "come and go" at first, I am currently experiencing such shortness of breath that the slightest exertion results in my panting for breath, so much so that I spent an evening in the emergency room last week. Nothing was found to indicate that I had a physical problem causing the breathing problem.

I went off Flomax at the suggestion of the staff at the emergency room and saw almost immediate improvement the next day; by day three I was really feeling great except that increasing urination problems were making me very uncomfortable.

I am now taking Flomax every other day (at the suggestion of my urologist) until I can see the doctor to change the medication. I still need something to help me begin urinating, to increase the dribble and stop-and-go stream, to help me be able to empty the bladder completely, and to alleviate the discomfort. And, I had prostate seeding on June 7 of this year.

Sorry I cannot sing the praises of this drug; it works to help urination from my experience, but the side effects have been scary. I don't want to live with the urination discomfort but I will instead of using this drug.
