Flomax not for me....serious fatigue, headaches, just a lump--workouts lasted 1/2 w/ 1/2 strength and as well, the play on the psyche due to the....'what the hell is going on???' factor. Rather pee 15 times a day with some focus and strength....just my story...hopeful that Avodart will aleve these symptoms...no side affects with that....

I am 57 and have been working out at a local gym for three years. I am small boned in structure, so I am working out for definition instead of bulk. I started taking Flow-Max in July of 2006 and have noticed a gradual reduction in the amount of reps and weight I can work with for each of my exercises. Also, my muscle tone has become soft. I plan to contact my doctor this week...I would like to get off the stuff for a while to see if there will be an improvement with my work out again.

Yes Dick I took Flomax 2 years ago, after two weeks notice sore calf muscles while running and generally a loss of strength. Quit after 3 mo's started advodart, same problem, so I quit. Put up with the symptoms of poor urination until I realized that waking 3 times a nite was affecting my sleep considerably. The last 2 mo's had urin flow test and the Systiscope done. Results two weeks ago was, should have an operation. Reasoned with the doc to return to flomax, ok'd. Been back on Flomax 1 week now and just starting to notice sore calf muscles when I run also weakness in my legs which I didn't notice the last 5 months. I understand your problem, I've been wondering if others had this problem. Not sure if i'm going to continue on the meds or not. Good luck to you.

Been taking Flomax for a couple of years and noticed loss of strength. Could do six or more chin-ups, but now can barely do one. Weakness in legs leads to loss of balance.

I've been on flowmax for 3 days and have no ejaculation on orgasm. Very strange. I'm outta here, the loss of orgasm isn't worth at best marginal improvement in nightly pee.
I have been on it now for 1 month and do have reduced semen output during masturbation. But I still experience great pleasure during sex. Not sure how much is coming out because my wife can't tell the difference. I no longer have any problem with my urination and i'm going like a bull. LOve this durg.

Have been on Flomax cr 0.4MG for about two months. My urinary problems were solved almost immediately.
However, I am experiencing loss of strength. Twist caps etc. proving a problem.
Major concern however is CONSTIPATION. I am 74 years old and my bowels have never been a problem. Since taking Flomax I have reverted to suppositories and stool softeners. I am talking of going 4 - 5 days without a movement.
Another week before I can get in to see the doctor.

Hello GUYS..........I am a female, age 48, and was prescribed Flomax 5 days ago at the emergency room for a first time kidney stone. Naturally, after that experience I probably would have taken anything to prevent another stone.
However, I have had some serious behavior changes, including explosiveness, and mild paranoia. I started out for work and commented to my daughter about how yucky I was feeling. I was weak, I had back pain (thinking this was the kidney), extreme fatigue (blaming the stone). Deciding to read this discussion has opened my eyes. I now realize it is the Flomax. I am also now done with the Flomax...I am headed to the health food store. See Ya

I am a 55 year old male. I had the cystoscopy and have no cancer, just BPH. I've been taking Flomax for a little over 2 months. Since 1 pill a day wasn't really helping reduce frequency, my urologist put me on 2 0.4 mg pills a day. After a few days I had retrograde ejaculation with no semen. The orgasm was there, though not as intense. I went back on 1 pill a day just last week and my orgasm and ejaculation is just about normal. The flomax is helping me in terms of a stronger flow, but not really helping in frequency. Still have urgency to go every hour during the day. Occasionally it's a little longer between urges and at night I still get up 4-5 times, no real improvement from before.
Also, since starting Flomax in May, I get this
tingling feeling in the tip of my penis occasionally that I need to go again maybe 20 minutes after I just urinated. Anybody else??? Will monitor and may cease taking Flomax.

flomax has caused me to have back pain, sinus problems, personality change, e.g., irritable and a feeling of fatigue. I am seeking other options for my prostate problem; maybe surgery. the only positive benefit is that it makes it easier for me to pee when the prostate is enlarged and it sometimes decreases the number of times I have to get up at night.

Thanks for all your postings regarding FLOMAX; It is helpful because my wife was thinking of a psychiatric referral due to my mood swings, fatigue, pain complaints, sinus, sore throat and lack of motivation. Flomax is the cause of all my complaints??? I guess the Flomax remedy may be worst than the bph? I am thinking of AVODART for a change. Surgery is the last option. It would be interesting to hear from those who chose surgery (TURP) for the enlarged prostate problem.

I've been taking Flomax for 4 years to treat BPH and postpone prostate surgery. It has worked fine. Two years ago I got polymyalgia (stiffness in muscles) and had to start taking prednisone. Dr said there was no conflict with 2 drugs. Common side effect of prednisone is muscle weakness which happens slowly. Pred is now down to 2 mg a day (very low) but muscle weakness is continuing, maybe even getting worse. I used to be able to hike or ski all day, now I'm wiped after a couple hours. A few months ago dr increased Flomax to .6 mg per day, a combo of old Flomax and FlomaxCR. I read the other postings about weakness and muscle loss due to Flomax and now I'm thinking that maybe it's not the pred after all. Very interesting stuff!

2 mos. on Flomax after seeds. Think energy level diminishes 20-25%. Sometimes light-headed when do light work in warm climate. Need to rest, etc. Urine sometimes difficult, flow eratic, slow. Urgency. I plan on 1 hr intervals. Sleep 5-6 hours at night, but reduce fluids after eve meal. Take .4 flomax 1/2 hour after last meal.Have unusual sensation tip of penis when urinating. Diminished erection. Retro ejac. It seems that if I can dis-continue the meds, some of these symptoms might be reduced. Am age 75, healthy and an exerciser (make that WAS). Any positive feedback ???

Has anyone developed breast enlargement from taking flomax?
I can't say so with Flomax, but did think so when took Avodart....so now am beginning Uroxatral 10....and after one week, "think" side effects are less than other two meds!

Regarding Joe's Questions: I changed back and forth from Avodart to Flomax....now taking Uroxatral and think it may be best regarding ejaculation ...not sure yet about frequency after only one week?

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Libra

An emotional situation is as clear as mud today. You aren't sure about your feelings for a certain someone, nor are you convinced that you know what they're playing at. They may be saying one thing and doing another, and you might even suspect that they're playing games with you or trying to get what they can out of the relationship. Or maybe you're imagining the whole thing? Admit it - at this stage you simply don't know.
