"Pros"
- very active bactericidal antibiotic against anaerobic and some microaerophilic bacteria
- metronidazole does not kill Lactobacillus species (good bacteria), unlike many other antibiotics

"Cons"
- carries a risk of convulsive seizures and peripheral neuropathy
- potency for antabuse-like interaction with alcohol or vinegar

i was 25 weeks pregnant and had a yeast infection. my dr prescribed me metrogel, even though i did not have a bacteria infection. started taking it on sunday night,5th night was thursday night...my baby died friday morning. after at the hospital, i found out that metro gel is for bacteria infections not yeast infections. i did not know this. there are no studies to date on metrogel on pregnant women that do not have a bacteria infection. but it is reported that metrogel passes directly through the placenta barrier directly to the fetus. Metrogel poisened my baby and killed him. PREGNANT WOMEN, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACTERIA INFECTION BEFORE TAKING THIS, EVEN IF YOUR OBGYN PRESCRIBES IT, IT WILL POISEN YOUR BABY!!
