Anyone out there with a similar profile as mine? Mets to spine, but quite anamolous, in that there has been hardly any progression since onset ten years ago. Switched from tamoxifen to Femara three years ago, and very tired of side effects with actually no real evidence that this is necessary since there were no tumors to begin with when I began it. 53, post-menopausal (due to oophorectomy at age 49). Also receiving Zometa; have been doing similar treatment (Aredia) since 1999. So, basically, a quiescent metastatic condition. Any data you can point me to, or anyone with a similar story that can add some new information?

I am completing five years on femara and wonder if a continuation is a good idea. No metastaisis so far. Few side effects. No bone density problems. I am 64 post menopausal. My oncologist suggests I join a study. I would be on placebo or femara. They would not tell me. No cost to me. Is this a good idea or should I just continue on femara with medicare paying all except $45/month copayment? I am less interested in the study than what would most benefit my long term health.
