I had to give up my estrogen supplement when I had breast cancer and I started having bone aching - enough to keep me from sleeping well at night. I have asked my doctor for Evista to help this. Have any of you received relief from body pain by taking Evista?

Just the contrary. I have had incredible body pain while taking Evista - I mean bring you to your knees kind of pain that kept showing up different places in my body. I went off it Tuesday and today (Thursday) am already feeling better.

I'm wondering if Kathy in Omaha, NE, still is better since going off Evista. I didn't make the link between the drug and body pain since these symptoms are recent after taking Evista for about 10 years. However, I heard on NPR today about a study involving the other osteo drugs.

1 I took evista for just three weeks and started to have severe pain in my groin, knees, jaw and wrist. As the one women said bring you to your knees pain major pain killers did not even touch the pain!!! I have been off it now for two week and can only hope it gets better soon. |

I was put on Evista for Breast Cancer risk. I was only on it for 3 days and as posted above....It brought me to my knees in pain. I felt as if every bone in my arms and legs had been broken. I could hardly move at all and my wrist and legs swelled up. When it didn't go away after a few days of not taking Evista, I had to go to the dr. It was either that, or die in pain. He gave me a steroid pack to help. It has been 2 weeks since I quit taking it and just now I am getting back to normal. For me....Evista is some pretty nasty stuff.

Has anyone had a problem with sinus type facial pain and headaches while on Evista? Have never had a sinus problem and have had head, face, and pain in jaw. Have been on Evista for 3 mo.

Dear Ladies taking Evista,
I have been taking Evista for about a year. Initially, the side effects are various and BAD. However, I found that after 2 wks. all side effects subsided. I bless my Mayo Clinic doctor daily for having the foresight to suggest this medication for its larger benefits. I would suggest that women try to "hang-in-there" with this drug. It is now the equivalent of swallowing a vitamin. |
