Enbrel-How long for results?

Hi-
I just took my 12th shot of enbrel in 6 weeks. I have seen some improvement, however, my hopes were so high to start with. I'm starting to worry that this is just not going to work for me. My body is just about 5% covered, with large patches on my ankle, elbows, and legs. I'd love to hear stories of how long it took for enbrel to work for you...or if it didn't at all!:( Thanks so much!

Took 12 hrs for me. I did the shot, went to bed and thought I died and was in heaven when I was able to get right up and walk without any assistance and little pain. By shot #2 I was feeling awesome!

After hesitating to start the regimen, the amount of pain I was experiencing in my AS finally convinced me that I needed to pull the box out of the fridge -- and start on my my first 50mg shot.

And TRULY REMARKABLY, I woke up this morning after taking the shot at 8 PM last night, and I noticed a significant improvement. The improvement was almost as instaneous as the cortisone shots I have been taking every two months for pain management.

I started Enbrel this week, I also have AS and this has been the best week I can remember having in years. I was wondering how you were doing since this post. Did you continue to improve? Have you ever had inflammation of the eyes? I am excited of the improvements yet to come.

I originally used Enbrel in conjunction with photo therapy and it took 2-3 months to get clear (I had 60% coverage). That was back in Sept.07' after that I continued my weekly shots (you can skip some) and have been completely clear for over 2 years. Just get some sun and enjoy that cold beer. It sure makes living life a lot funner. This shit works but at what expense?

Hi Janet,

Glad to hear about your positive results. It is now 6 months since I started my Enbrel regimen, and I have improved to the point where I hardly even notice my arthritis! It has been the most remarkable 6 months in the past 10 years. My blood tests confirm that my inflamation is at its lowest levels since I started testing. So far, so good.
