I was wondering if there are any sites or programs available where one could apply for financial aide to help pay for this drug. Even with drug coverage I still can't afford thr $400 plus.

Ive used enbrel for 2 yrs. I went from 80% to 1% psoriasis on my body. My insurance paid for the drug. My co-payment was $40.00 a month. This Jan 07 it will go to $3000.00 deductable yearly. Then I pay 20% after the deductable. I cant do it! I need some help!! I dont want to have psoriasis control my life again. Is there any aid out there that can help?

I'm really sorry your government don't pay Enbrel. I'm taking enbrel since october 2005 and I don't have to pay anything. You probably should to emigrate to a more developed country. A country that don't spend so much money in weapons and war but where everybody have a good public healh coverage.
Good luck!

Have you tried contacting Amgen (Enbrel) and looking into there program? When I checked, they would only fund for the FDA approved diseases for Enbrel and you should qualify. Worth a try.

It's sad, but the guy from Spain is totally right. It's wrong when we live in a country that is supposed to be so prosperous, but we can't even get good health coverage. Health coverage is free in most other countries. I have had to work two jobs for the last year and a half to pay for my juvenile arthritis medication. The sad thing is...if I had a baby, quit my job, and didn't get married...I'd get it all for free.

Melanie, Tom is right. I'm really sorry for what I said. Some times we think things that we should't say, at least not here. But there are so many things so dificult to understand....
I beg your pardon anyway and wish you the best.

Carole, just read your posting today. Have you tried talking with the "Enbrel assistance program". They may be able to help. You could get in touch with them probably through the Enbrel website or contact Amgen for a phone #. I can't apply for assistance from them until I'm a patient with a new rheumatologist where I just moved to--and the waiting time for a new patient appointment is 4 months! Good luck to you.

You guys are seeing one side of the picture here. Haven't you ever learned that nothing is free? If you want to see your taxes go up by 80%, rationed health care, and wait a year to get an MRI, you too can enjoy socialized medicine. There is no pot of gold, folks.

Amen Lisa! My words exactly.

When is health care a RIGHT? It's a privilege, one you earn. Just because we got dealt a bad hand doesn't mean that we are entitled to everyone else's money. Get a job at Wal-Mart or Starbucks. They have excellent health care coverage... but sorry, you'll have to work for it. I think that's the key, no one wants to work for it.

By the way - how much do those countries with "free" health care pay in taxes?? It isn't free by any means when you begin to compare all the taxes and added fees.

Sad that the discussion had to take this turn.

So sad to read reponses that address politics. But since it was started we need to remember that we have our own beliefs. As my mother told me, never talk politics or religion. I have just been informed to try and stop the incredibal pain fatigue, etc. to start Enbrel. I did not think anything about it until I received a call from the perscription company under our insurance company that the copay was $350.00 per month. Needless to say I had to decline the meds until I was able to pay for them.

I am so glad to get info as to Quickassist from my doctor and also my perscription company. I will be calling on Monday to activate and also hope to be eligible.

It is very depresing after working since I have been 15, to have these diseases that are so painful, dibilitating and also fatiguing, that prevents me from being a productive citizen. After bing laid off from a major corporation in the US (Lean)and trying to find a new positon along with dealing with the pain and fatigue on a daily basis, it is just so depressing to be impacted with the cost of medication and not being able to pay for it.

Without insurance the cost of this medicaiton is $1600.00 per month. Just who can afford that? You need the drug just to get out of bed to go to your 2 to 3 minimum wage jobs a day and still cannot afford it.

Very sad, best to get off this soap box. Will get flaming reponses from the right.

I look to this site to be informative as to how a basic individual can pay for the meds to keep one off of relief. Thanks for letting me vent.

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Scorpio

If something is bothering you, it's important that you say so now, loudly and clearly. It's no good bottling things up any longer because that will only lead to resentment and a slow-burning anger. However, it's important that you know when to shut up too, otherwise you might overstate your case or sound so demanding that you turn others against you.
