Sexual Effects of Diovan

Quite by accident I discovered that taking diovan about 1-2 hours prior to sexual activity has had a tremendous effect on my ability to get erections. I have xperimented and have found that it is attributed to diovan. I take 80mg in the morning upon wakening and 80 mg prior to bedtime. It works!

I been on diovan for 9 months now it seems like my sexy life has pack and gone south,do you think this could be the diovan causeing my sex life to go away

Bert, decreased libido (sex drive) is one of the side effects listed. we all react differently to medications, and you may be sensitive to this component. As antihypertensive meds go, this family of drugs is not notorious for that problem. Are there other blood pressure meds you are taking? Could there be other reasons?

same issue Dr. J. No other blood pressure meds, but loss of sex drive.

I have never had this problem with divan. Thank god. I did however drink a lot of water.
Not as bad now.

I've experienced contrary results and have been forced to take additional medications to enable normal sexual activity. I'd appreciate any additional info on how to manage consumption of diovan, valsartan to restore sexual performance capabilities. EMAIL [e-mail]

For me, Diovan 80mg is like complete castration. No libido, no interest in sex whatsoever, and absolutely no arousal. It lowered my borderline hypertension. I'm trying some of the no pharma methods to see if I can control this myself
CO Q10, Magnesium, the Resperate machine, DASH diet, exercise, limiting coffee and alcohol. I'll report back if this works. MD's are skeptical that you can control it on your own, but worth a try.

Are you sure your problems are Diovan related? There were many experiments showing Diovan does not reduce sexual peformance, but in fact improves it. Do a search on it at www.pubmed.org , and you will see it for yourself. I believe what all of you are experiencing is purely pyschological. Also, check on healthboards.com , which is more of a trusted site than this. No one complained about sexual effects of Diovan.

Diovan killed my sex drive. I was on enalapril but due to its side effects doctor switched me to Diovan 320 mg with Hctz. I took that for five days and I lost erection and interest in sex. I have stopped it now and in five days I am getting weak erection.

you are right ,320 diovan has stop my love life. no hardon , 320 for 6 months. had a cardiac arrest .

I myself do not take the drug, my boyfriend however does. His libido is very very low.(Virtually non-existent) Because I once heard that certain drugs can effect your sex-drive I googled the medicine he is taking, hah, just what I thought.
My boyfriend does not know I have this concern, so it can not be psychologica. The problem started looking back at it, since he started taking that drug.
Is there an alternative to this, or a way to get the libido up again? We are both in our early 30's and I for one are not willing to bury my sexlife. He might think differently, since his drive is gona anyways...

I'm taking Diovan HCT, I'm in my mid 30's, doing the DASH diet, exercise 3x's a week, and my sex drive....GONE!!!! It all started after I started using this medication. What can I take, or should I request a different type of med? I'm too young for this, and my partner is also suffering.

Ever since my husband of 19 years who has always had a strong libedo started taking Diovan he has no libido and no ability for sex. He is also very depressed. I am afraid it his depression is going to hurt our marriage. He is so unhappy he is talking about ending our marriage and leaving his great kids. This is not my husband and I cant get the doctors to listen to me.

I am using diovan, dynacirc, plavix, lipitor of course no errection. Viagra is doing GREAT JOB.
