Hello Morganna and fellow nasal Polyp sufferes.I,m greg from Aus,had three ops on nose to remove polyps, which I had for 15 Years, have reseached for many years and I belive Nasal Polyposis is caused by Allergic Fungal Sinusitus, caused by Systemic Candida Overgrowth due to High Carb diet,Antibiotics or stress.Tried many medications but have resorted to a Diet of Minimal Sugar,Sour Dough Bread and restricted dairy,Multivitamins,Fish oil tablets and Pro biotics seems to be working ok.Good to have a site which people can exchange ideas and results for these life changing conditions.

I just had surgery about 2 weeks ago in a Mayo hospital. They removed approx. 12 oz. of polyps and other tissue. I had compete blockage in most of the sinus area and had suffered for over 12 years. Today in my follow up Dr. visit I was told that Voriconazole would be prescribed AND I have to go in for another suergery to remove even more polyps that were either missed in the first operation or possibly have grown since last operation. Does it seem possible that polyps would grow back in less than a month? I am NOT looking forward to another operation, but have to admit this is the most open my sinuses have been in years....want to keep them that way!

Who was your surgeon at Mayo? Did you have it at St. Mary's in Rochester? That's where my surgery was. I am almost 2 yeasr out! And have had only 1 infection in 2 years. I use the voriconazole spray daily.

I have learned through going to a holistic doctor recently that you have to detoxify your body and go through heavy metal chelation first before getting rid of a yeast/fungal issue. Apparently fungus/yeast attaches itself to heavy metals, which is why it can be so hard to eliminate.

After months of research, and much pain and suffering I finnally got an undertstanding ENT to prescribe for me this new anti fungal Nasal spray - voriconazole nasal spray. This is a compound medicine , but do not let some pharmacists fool you, it is very simple to mix, and can be done cost effectively. After the first evening of using it I cleaned out a lot of black pieces of fungus from my sinus, and am on my third day, I hope others will not have to go through the 3 years of pain and suffering and dealing with doctors who want to make money from your ilness , as I did.
All I can say is, NEVER take one doctors word as gospel and do your own research.
I am planning to set up a website and provide help for others who suffer from chronic sinusitus. good luck
Thanks for the comments - even though they were written 2 plus years ago, they still helped!!! Good work!

I have had a fungal sinus problem for 9 years now, my wife has it on her ears. We were exposed to mold in my car after the sunroof leaked. CT scans and MRI of my sinuses were normal but I got very sick - headaches, dizziness, nausea, aching muscles and joints, skin rashes, fatigue, my wife has had similar symptoms. Started washing out my sinuses using colloidal silver I made myself (very strong) mixed with a little salt to reduce burning and lots of black mold washed out. Identified it as aspergillus fumigatus under a microscope, and sent it off to a lab which cultured aspergillus. Doctors told us it couldn't cause us problems because we aren't allergic to it or immunocompromised and gave us no help. A few months ago I added a little magnesium hydroxide to the colloidal silver and a huge amount of mold washed out. More recently I tried adding a drop of copper sulfate solution too, and even more washed out, though it hurt too. Have been feeling steadily better since. Please contact me at paul@experiencers.net if you think this might help you. Anyone have any tips for getting your sense of smell back? I've lost mine and I miss it!

Hi there. I'm really glad I found this site, cause I thought I was the only found I knew suffering from this. Not sure what my condition is exactly (don't seem to suffer symptoms like headaches and bad breath) but there are polyps and inflammation in my left sinus, along with accumulation of thick yellow discharge, and it's tough for me to breathe.

I've been through two surgeries already, and living in Singapore, expertise and experience with what I have isn't very extensive. Hence, to this date (2 years since I've been seeing various doctors), no one knows what the problem is. My current doctor suspects its Allergic Fungal Sinusitis.

Is there any way to verify if this reaction is indeed caused by fungus? And how much does immunotherapy help? Thanks so much for your help. I've really benefited loads from all the useful comments.:)
