just want to know... my son is 13 years old and was diagnosed last month as having complex partial epilepsy. before this, he has had a mild tic where he jerks his head. I brought him to a neuro and was prescribed depakote 250mg to be taken for 30 days. I did just what the neuro said but the tic didn't go. It was still there until a friend told me to give my son vit. B complex.Here i noticed that little by little, his tic got cured. He doesn't jerk his head anymore! A month later that was just last month, May, i noticed that he was acting strange, where he wld wake up in the middle of the night with a frightened look in his face, stare blankly, and then jerk his arm.This happens at day time too. Had him go through EEG and there, the results say he was having seizures. Now what i want to know is...why did his neuro prescribe dpakote when what my son had was tic and not epileptic seizures? did this drug cause his seizures now? my son has never had seizures like this before taking depakote.He was a normal active kid.Now, because of his seizures, he is back to depakote again. This time with a higher dosage-500. But still his seizres are there. He is having about 8 in his waking hours and 4 when he is asleep.He has been taking it almost three weeks now.I dont see any improvement.
