How do I get rid of my pills?

Full story: Seacoast Online

It's back to basics, what your chemistry teacher taught you. Matter or energy doesn't just disappear. It turns into something else. ...; Things don't just go away. Pharmaceuticals have been found in drinking water across the nation. Why? People are flushing their meds, as they were once instructed. via Seacoast Online

Any idea how you can get only 6 pills of demerol or percocet? I have to take two long plane rides and get muscle pain in my leg. I have tried all the over the counter stuff with no relief and my doctor says there is nothing wrong. I tried a percocet (left over from kidney stone) and it WORKED. First time I have been able to fly and relax.

Just take all your old pills, etc back to your local pharmacist or drugstore and they will dispose of them properly.

Not where I live. The local pharmacist told me to flush them - which brings us back to the water pollution problem.

Burn them It sure has to be a whole lot safer than letting them get into hands of wrong people/where are all the stats on #of teenagers hooked on medications? I know it has to be a very high percentage, any parent who give a pain pill to a child just to help child through a little discomfort needs to be jailed

burn them wow what a genius this bitch is... you want to burn opiate pills and you dont think the smoke contains opiates? kids are smoking oxy pills these days and you think its a good idea to burn them and make all that smoke? no idiot... the pharmacy should NOT have told you to flush them... they should take them back and dispose of them safely, that was wrong of them to do.

Wow, I should just dial up protective services on myself right now! My daughter recently had a tonsilectomy, I gave her pain meds to get through it. I shoulda told her to shut up 'n suck it up cause taking pain meds now 'n then is gonna get her hooked 'n it'd be ALL MY fault. Wow I'm stupid! What's better than that?*looks around* Shhhhh I give her a dose every 3wks or so when she's had a hard day in gymnastics and she's CRYING from pain and can't sleep. I just should be taken out back and shot right now! OMG I'm a TERRIBLE MOTHER!!!!Lets kill the DR that RX'd her so much of it!!!

To Wah - Secure ur leftovers for your use later should u need them
To BadMom - Your child could have a dependency or working on one. Be careful, not too cavalier about these meds. I would try ibuprophen the next time she is in pain even an 800mg Motrin if needed but no Narcs to the children. You are breaking the law as the bottle says not to dipenses to anyone other than who they are prescribed for.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Cancer

Mercury turning retro is offering you the chance to make sweeping and long-lasting changes to your life, and to clear the ground for some fertile growth in 2010. Lawyers and legal matters, debates, contract negotiations, partnership or other alliances, and joint ventures of any kind need attention. As a Cancerian you don't like endings, but you must now bring an end to any situation or relationship that is holding you back or has passed its sell-by date. Look forward, not back, if you want a glittering future.
