I was waiting for this. I learned of this medication a number of years ago. As soon as "Coreg" was approved by the FDA, I armed myself with information and took it to my doctor who called one of the doctors who did one of the trials. I believe I was the first person in my hometown to go on the medication.

How wonderful that it is now available in generic form.

I've had cardiomyopathy for over 16 years and have been so very fortunate to have only been hospitalized once during that time. I also am asymptomatic.

I have been on COREG for over a year now due to CHF. I have almost NO insurance, and paid over 124.00 a month for this one (of 3) meds I take every day. Yesterday the cost was 73.00, so much better.

Have been on COREG (among many other drugs) for 10 years. Prior to Plan D, I paid full retail prices. So glad the generic version is finally available. Filled prescription today at WalMart for a mere 4 dollars.

I just started using the generic form of the Coreg and have found it to be insuffucient at keeping my heart rythms steady. I almost feel like I did before I started the medication when I was in congestive heart failure.

Anyone else notice the difference?

I just started taking the generic about 2 weeks ago. I feel like my heart is pounding out of my chest again and I'm very very tired. I had been taking Coreg for almost 6 years. I'm almost done with the generic, when I do the refill I'm going back to the regular form. Nice to save money on the generic but not if it's going to make me feel like crap again! I thought it was just all in my head.

Mariyln,
I had been paying $170.00/month for Coreg and then $124.00 at Walgreen's for the generic.
I just got the generic by Teva at Costco. It was $7.00 for 60 tabs of the 25 mg...I take 2/day. Hope this helps!

Have been on Coreg since June 2006 after having a heart attack. Am now taking the generic version of Coreg and am experiencing an increase in blood pressure and pulse rate. Will be going back to Coreg.

Have been on Coreg a couple of years, changed to generic for just a few days and feel like hell - blood pressure up, dizzy, stayed in bed all day yesterday. Today got some original Coreg, andhope tomorrow is better - nothing else has changed, it must be this!

I've been taking coreg for three and ahalf years and started taking the generic version about two or three months ago. Now I'm in arterial flutter which I believe is from the generic coreg. Had been fine for all that time before changing to generic.

I WAS ON COREG FOR SEVERAL YEARS. IT SAVED MY LIFE 7YRS AGO WHEN MY EJECTION FRACTIONS WERE IN THE 20'S. I TRIED THE GENERIC FOR A WEEK NOW AND HAVE BEEN MISERABLE. CALLED MY PHARMACY AND HAD THEM GO BACK TO THE REAL THING. PHARMACIST SAID THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH COREG AND TOPORAL GENERICS.

Wow, am I glad to see these postings. I was on coreg cr for 30 days( sample) to lower my pressure due to an enlarged aorta and it was working great, the feeling of stress hormones coursing through my veins was gone for the first time in a long time,no more chest pain, bp was down to 110 over 80. so he wrote me a prescription. when I went to the pharmacy they told me I had to have prior approval. Instead of giving that, he gave me generic (greenstone) and i've been feeling like crap again. pounding heart, chest pain and elevated blood pressure. I was thinking I was crazy because it's the same medicine.

I am on the web to check on the generic for Coreg because since I have been taking the generic I am experincing problems with my heart beat again. I had been stable for a number of years and wondered if the change had caused it. I too am very tired again. I think we are on to something. I have taken Coreg probably since it came out. I was thinking maybe my cardiomyopathy was on the move again. Seeing these comments gives me some hope that it is just the medicine.

Wow, I am so glad to see this. I have been on coreg about 7 years and went to the generic first of the year. After about two weeks started having more irregular heartbeats and chest pain again. I am definetly going back to coreg. I feel so much better knowing that it is not just me. Thanks for all the info

I believe that there is a difference b/t my reaction to Coreg and the generic substitute that my health plan provides. My heartbeat is still steady, but I feel better when I take the "real thing".

I recently began taking Generic Coreg Manufactured by TEVA. 12.5 Mg twice a day. Half way through the bottle and I was feeling terrible and had zero energy. Last week I began having a reaction- tingling lips ,sores, sweating etc. I got 10 pills of real coreg from the Pharmacist. One day and already feel the difference! I spent a week trying to figure out what I was allergic to! It could be the binders i.e. sugars/ starches used. My insurance previously denied my request for non-generic - But I will gladly pay for it!
