Clindamycin Stomach and Gas and Waste Problems

I cant eat anything much after taking Clindamycin and my stomach feels like someone with gravely nuckles in my stomach.
It feels caved in and nervous.
Complete stillness helps.
A folded pillow under my stomach helps.
It felt uncomfortable from the start of the 2 week dose with food, but at times when my stomach is empty,I feel like going in the fetal position from the pain.
The internal gas afterwards is still with me and is loud even after drinking just water.
What damage it may have done I don't know.
I've been suffering for a week after taking it.
I hope the pain goes away........

i have been taking this medicine for 4 days now, and the past two days my stomach continueasly growls, and i have mild diaherra in the mornings. I have also lost my appetite. I sure hope this goes away.

I took clindamycin about 3 years ago.
Try eating active yogurt or going to a health food store and getting acedolphilis.
The drug is dangerous
You need to see a doctor your symptoms may be a sign of something potentialy fatal

This drug is very dangerous. You need to start eating yogurt with live cultures to stop the diarrha. Also take acedolphillis, a form of "good" bacteria you can find at the health food store.

I took clindamyacin about three years ago for an abcessed tooth (at age 27), and got really sick as well. After two weeks of being unable to eat, and considerable weight loss due to the constant diarrhea, I ended up on IV. Found out I had c-difficile, and required a different sort of medicine for a significant period of time. It was one of the scariest illnesses of my life, and all over a stupid tooth. This is a really dangerous medicine.

Were it not for reading the posts on the internet regarding Clindamycin, I also would most probably be experiencing the same symptoms. I was prescribed Clindamycin because I need to pre-medicate before a dental procedure. I did not take the medication and rescheduled my appointment with another antibiotic prescription. I was given another patient's i.v. medication while i was an inpatient at the indianapolis V.A. medical center the med was clindamycin (Which I am allergic to) After undergoing anaphylactic shock and having terrible rashes all over my body I now suffer from hearing loss as well as severe neuralgia in my extremeties that has not gone away. I have been on clindamycin for about 5 days. I woke up this morning to take a dose, about 15 minutes later i had the most terrible burning sensation in my stomach, it felt like i drank some muratic acid, I had no idea what to do, after bout several spoonfuls of mylanta, i kind went away. I had to lay down for most of the day, wich is not like myself.
Thank god i see my doctor tomm. so he can take me off this med, as was the ER> doctor that prescribed this med to me. I will never take it again.

I took this then went to bed on night, woke up a bit later in Agony, Felt like heartburn but with avengance, as if i had a fire in my stomach. I tried drinking milk, and takin Gaviscon but to no avail, end up i drank 2 litres of water and made myself vomit, this helped a lot in easing the pain. I was too late it seems, this med gave me a stomach ulcer which is very painful, when eating or drinking anything. This is one evil drug, my advise would be AVOID IT ALL COSTS!

I started taking clindamyci yesterday and I'm my third does. After about an our into the first dose my stomach was growling and then I had the diarreah hit. I've been to the bathroom four times already since late yesterday afteroon and I'm on my third dose of 150mg two pills each time. I've read horror stories and i'm a bit concerened. I went to may general dentis two days ago and he prescribed me Amoxocilin and then I went to an endodontist and he changed me to clindamycin. I hope he didn't make a mistake. They are not even sure if I have an infection by just looking at the x-rays. I'm afraid the risk of taking this medication might be too much? Any ideas? I'm a healthy 39 male.

Same here, later I found out you can not lie down up to 30 minutes after and I finished out my perscription

I have been on clindamicyn for 6 days now for a bad tooth and havent been real bothered by stomach side effects, however the tooth is still hurting and only have 2 more days to be on the medicine.

Hi guys, I took just one pill of 150mg Clindamycin for tooth, and that is after I had my rootcanal. Anyway, when I took one pill, it gave me a horrible Diarrhea for the last few days. I am a bit worried about this can you guys give me an idea. Thanks

I was just prescribed clindamycin for a tooth infection; can't take it. Nausea, diarrhea, weakness, low grade fever. My dentist decreased my dose to half but the gas and nausea is too much to take. No stomach pain but just very miserable with the other effects. I am also concerned for myself after reading these postings about this antibiotic. I have never had to take it before; am having root canal therapy.

I am taking clindamycin for an infected tooth. Within 15 min. of swallowing 2 150 mg. pills...I have a burning sensation in my throat..it does NOT feel "right". It also feels like severe heartburn which I normally never get. I am calling my health care company nurse line as it feels serious but it's probably this high powered medicine...scarey.

Hello all, thanks for the information, I just was prescribed this 300MG 4 times a day. I have a severe infection and mouth and had to have a tooth pulled and one root canal.

I will certianly keep my eyes on all the symptoms and if you have any other ideas I will be on here reading.

I was perscribed 300mg, 4 times a day as well, I have not had servere symptoms, but I have had mild diarhea, and have been feeling slightly nauseous every now and then. My doctor perscribed it for a throat/tonsil infection. today (5th day) i had a very SLIGHT fever(99 degrees, nothing serious). I'm supposed to be done with it in 2 days, and I'm getting nervous about it because I've heard so many bad things about it on other forums.
