CDC Recommends New Drug for Gonorrhea

U.S. health officials are recommending wider use of a new drug to treat gonorrhea because the sexually transmitted disease is steadily becoming resistant to the longtime standard antibiotic.

Until American society has the guts to face the spread of STDs head-on, these types of infection rates will continue. People need to be taught from an early age about human sexuality - and access to condoms and other methods of birth control must be increased and the stigma surrounding it removed.

Far too many people are dying from AIDS and becoming infected with other STDs for this country to continue down the road of the "religious right" where silence and ignorance about sex is something "holy".
