10 weeks now, the pain is driving me insane. 47 years old, not overweight, walked daily, watched weight, ate real food, and here I am totally housebound, isolated, and totally dependent on my husband. I have been treated like the doctors are playing "hot potato". Nerve doc, rhuemy, and general. Doctor who prescribed has not been available since my poisoning. The pain is really driving me insane. I have a parking tag for handicapped, reason "Cipro induced tendonitis", and it is ALL over my body. When the groin pain hits OMG. If anyone has a treatment please PLEASE POST it.

I also had 3-6 course of Cipro Feb 8,2008- Oct 2008 ( renewals)for UTI. July 2,2009 I had posterior tibial tendon surgery and makeover of my left foot and ankle due to biomechanical breakdown. I have signed on with the class action litigation. Im 62. |

You say you've "signed on with the class action litigation". Would you kindly post that information! I have been trying for 3 years to find an attorney who can handle this kind of litigation, with no luck. My thanks, Hilary |

"Poisoning" is right. I have found the following effective: Taking a magnesium supplement; a high-quality oral chelate; icing down troublespots when they flare up; meditation and visualization to help me accept myself as I am now. |

To join the Cipro class action lawsuit go to www.thesteinberglawfirm.com . There is a toll free hotline also 888 529-4688. He will ask some pertinent questions and send you a questionaire to fill out. Good luck to all!

I have taken two courses of Cipro for possible Prostitis and now have serious pain and joint stiffness. I feel like I have aged 10 years in 2 months. I am sure this was caused by the cipro (my fiance made me quit taking it when I developed diarrhea) and it wasn't until after I quit that we made the connection to the joint and muscle pain I'd been having. My question is" Does anyone know a way to detox from this stuff? I am considering drinking lots of water and possibly taking glucosamine for my joints, but has anyone else found other things that help?

I wish someone had very early on recommended to me the following: 1) ceasing all Cipro intake immediately, 2)considering taking a high-quality magnesium supplement, 3) possibly looking in to chelation therapy - anything to get Cipro out of your system and tissues as soon as possible, 4) Endurolytes from Hammer Nutrition. I wish I had done numbers 2 and 3 much sooner and aggressively than I have. As far as exercising, take great care in engaging in high-impact activities and any deep stretching. Listen very, very carefully to your body. Good luck, Hilary |

I was curious if you ever found anyone who had successfully suited against CIPRO. I have had several of the problems that you speek of. Both of my heals, my outer foot tendons, my elbow, wrist, and now my neck and shoulders have been kinking up and extremely hurting. I am hoping that you will get this message. I have been a waitress for the better part of twenty years and until after I get surgeries on both feet, I will not be able to work.

See "Jane/Boca Raton, FL". I contacted the Steinberg Firm and it does have a Cipro class action suit filed. Unfortunately, they will only take clients who have had surgery for their ruptured tendons and ligaments. I do not qualify. Any other class action suits out there? Anyone? |

Just incase anyone is smarter than I was and is reading about the medication BEFORE you take it I wanted to add that I too have suffered from the drug. I am 30 years old and took 3 pills. I started having leg pain after the second dose but still took a 3rd before ending up back at the drs. 3 days after I have stopped the drug the leg cramps are gone. I do still have severe pain at the bottom of both my calf muscles and at the back of my heels making it virtually impossible to walk. My elbows are feeling stiff but are not near as painful as my legs. Please do not take this drug. There is a black box warning but I did not fall into any of the 3 categories that it stresses. The black box warning should simply say high possibility of tendon damage. Also, I was rxed this for a UTI. After reading I feel like this was over kill and the fda should make strict guidlines for when this drug should be rxed. If you are dying then the benefits out weigh the risks. In my case I do not believe they did.

OMG! I'm so glad to have found this forum! I am in so much pain after taking a course of Cipro in June this year.
My Dr gave me no warnings and I didn't have any major problems while I was taking most of the 14 day course. In the Uk we don't have your Black box warning. I had a little nausea but on going back to the docs was told that's normal. But two days before the end I started getting pain in my Achilles. Stopped the drug. The pain increased for a few weeks and I lost an estimated 90% of my leg function. During July I recovered quite quickly and expected to be fully recovered by now. But that recovery has stalled and in some ways is going backward. I would say I am at 50% loss of function and I'm in constant pain. Thanks for some of the suggestions. I will try the magnesium self treatment. I was wondering if Cipro is fat soluable. Anyone know? I was a little over-weight and have started to deliberately lose weight. But my symptoms are getting worse again at the same time. I remember reading some years ago about some toxic compounds being stored in fat and released when that fat was consumed. Am I being poisoned by my healthier diet?!?! Some have asked (including my Dr): "How do you know it was the Cipro?" Well prior to June, I was perfectly fit - I took the antibiotic for a minor urinary infection - I walked everywhere, not driving. I walked for miles on day trips - no problems. Nearly two weeks after starting Cipro - BANG! Sudden symptoms! Both Achilles shot, pain in my left arm and finger joints. Knees in bad pain! Also developed weird tingling sensation over left shoulder. Nausea has returned and I'm having problems sleeping again. Did\does anyone else have the peculiar sensation of feeling as if the joints are stuffed with cotton? It's like a sort of spongey sensation. Rme, it can affect any muscle - not just the joints and tendoitis. Check out Rhabdomyolysis. Thanks again all. |

6 or 7 days after taking Cipro I could not move my left hand and could not walk. Prior to taking Cipro I was a perfectly healthy and active 40 yr old. I was given Cipro because of a stomach bug.
For over 2 months I have not been able to walk properly (severe limping and pain) and have trouble moving my left hand (pain, weak grip). I have gone to so many doctors to try to get better, and none of them know what to do. Most will not want to admit it is from Cipro (I suspect because they get favors from the drug companies and don't want to blow it). It is frustrating and I don't know when it will end. If anyone knows a good doctor who understand Cipro poisoning and the tendon damage it causes, I would love to know the name. |

I had a naturopathic physician recommend Zyflamend (herbal remedy available at most vitamin stores) and Fish Oil. Additionally, using altnerating hot and cold therapy (soak ankles in very warm water for several minutes and ice cold for several minutes).
I am also going to start a Liver Cleansing Detox program to get rid of any Cipro residuals. I think I will need physical therapy for my achilles tendons. I have been limping around for 2 months and now need to relearn how to walk. Good Luck. |
