Coroner: Smith overdosed by accident on 9 drugs

I was watching court tv last night and how Greta was questioning the coronor. She really wanted to know how and why HE came to the conclusion that is was an accidental overdose. The coronor said he came to the conclusion that all those various drugs in her system were ANS taking them herself along with injecting her own bum and this info was passed to him per the body guard, the so called nurse who never called 911 and HKS. Greta asked him how he can take THEIR word for what happened when they were the very people in question in the first place.
I think we haven't heard the last of this case. Greta also questioned how ANS , in her condition, was able to get up and give herself more drugs.

I'm confused on this because at first they said that NO drug's were found in her system???? So if no drugs were found how did they find them this time around???
Is this case gonna b like Marylin Monroe, where they said she died of drug overdose but now they reckon she'd been murdered??
Something funny is going on about this case, it jus don't seem right, considering they ruled out a drug over dose the first time.

Sorry i forgot to add in my last post that they also knew what drug's were in Anna's room and what drug's she was taking at the time so surely they would have checked for these drugs also?? But like i said they did completely rule out a drug's overdose.

There were no ILLEGAL drugs found in her system. Plenty of legal ones were. Illegal or legal she is just as dead.

I don't remember them ruling out overdose. The coronor seemed to be doing a little police work himself. Other well known coronors have gone on tv stating that they do no such thing. Coronors come to their conclusion on the body alone and not by seeking interviews from suspects. It was all on court tv and they are raising a lot of questions on this. I think that this corornor wanted some tv time or something...either that or was playing detective.
Meanwhile Court tv lawyers were stating how odd it was that HKS lawyers were stating 'case closed' when it fact that would not be up to them to close a case. What was closed? If there were no murder investigation one wonders what they are talking about in the first place.
Most people like myself believe HKS played a strong part in giving her drugs, not to kill but merely to please. I don't think HKS ever thought she would die because he had always known ANS to be into heavy drug use. Still, I never liked the man when I first saw and heard of him on the ANS show. There was always something a little creepy about him and I didn't feel that way about anyone else.

Well over here (UK) it said that the coroner had said it wasn't a drug overdose and that it was ruled out an that no drugs wot so ever were found in her blood stream or stomach. Maybe he ment no illegal ones but he never stated wether it was illegal or legal.

I agree Jenny i don't like HKS there is something not right about him, and after that video of ANS on drugs was released it really does say he was only after money.

The ME is responsible for his opinion on both the cause and manner of death. Dr. Perper had the cause determined in his opinion a few weeks before he determined the manner. He waited for the police to give their report. It is proper for the ME to work with the police in respect to manner of death. He did not interview witnesses the police did. He then took the police report at face value with them saying that they could not come up with any evidence that anyone had forced or coerced the Cloral Hydrate into Anna. His own number 1 question in the report was how did she get that much Cloral Hydrate in her system and as far as I can tell that was never answered. For this reason I believe that he should have listed the manner as undetermined and the cause as overdose.

Opinion...you said it right. Dr. Perper has an opinion just as we all do! Who gave him the right to determine what was in Anna's mind (or Howard's for that matter). He's an ME, for God's sake not a mind reader! And I agree with you Tom, the cause should be listed as overdose and manner undetermined.

Can you even imagine what a real good Defense Attorney (maybe O'neil) would do to Perper on the witness stand?

The fact that 'accidental' is the opinion of this medical examiner is why this wont go away.
If you look back to Daniel that med ex only stated what he died from but he did not put accidental down as that was not determined.
I always thought that me only put down the facts as per the body of evidence and not their opionions based on interviews. He has put a whole ? onto this case.
To be honest, I am sure it was an accident but my only thing is this poor child. I hope she finds a good home with someone that can support her in all manners and not subject her to court battles and financial problems and tv appearances and magazine spreads and finger pointing....

Well it wouldn't be to hard to bring up a lot of questions concerning manner of death. If he would have listed the manner as undetermined it would put preassure back on the police to come up with some answers.

The cause is also an opinion and I do not disagree with the Dr.'s opinion. It was not presented as a 100 percent certainty. It was presented as an opinion that the amount of Cloral Hydrate by itself that was present in her system would not of been sufficient to cause death. He then states that the Cloral Hydrate must have interacted with the other 9 drugs in her system. Which drugs the interactions took place with are not listed. For this reason I believe the doctor is taking and educated guess.

The drugs are listed they are mostly tranqulizers and cold and flu medicines.

Why is it that her death was ruled as an "accidental overdose", but my daughters death was ruled a "suicide" when she accidentally took too much of her prescribed pain medication when she broke a tooth? Could it be that we aren't rich and famous like Anna Nicole and they didn't want her death labeled a "suicide" because of the adverse publicity it would cause.

If you still have more grief there is the Indianapolis mother killed by a stray bullet, and the toddler killed by his mother's boyfriend.

Those "reporters" do nothing but create a divisive element in this country, the big fear, someone will snatch up the lilly white blue eyed precious one. Why isn't Greta creating this much sympathy for someone who deserves it instead of a lot of smart a** white women who think nothing can ever happen to them. Yeah its a good idea to go off drunk with a bunch of strangers on an island, and you can take lots of drugs because they are perscribed.

Yes, I am sure many of us know a war is going on. And of course that is important especially when so many of service men and women are killed. We just come to this forum as a form of relaxation and entertainment. Please do not think because we are in the forum discussing ANS that we do not care about current events.
