Cephalexin Side Effects

The peeing thing makes a lot of sense now. I've got cystic acne, so I've been on Cephalex for as long as 2-3 months. I've gotten seriously dehydrated multiple times while taking it, and it's oddly accompanied by lots of peeing.
I thought maybe it was the birth control, but my doctors said that's not possible.
I think it also causes my vagina to dry out, making sex impossible.

After neutering my 8 months white Boxer, he had infection around the incision area after about 10 days . The vet prescribed him Uphalexin / generic Cephalexin antibiotics 500mg to be taken twice a day. On the 5th day he started vomiting after taking the antibiotic. I am planning to stop the dosage.Bottomline is listen to your dog and not the Vet.

I am so glad I came across this site! I really thought I was a crazy person.... but no, it's just a crazy drug!

I've taken it before and I don't remember having these kind of problems. I have an abscess in my tushy (fun times!!) that came back about 2 weeks ago and Doc first gave me Doxycyline again (which puts me waaaaay out in la-la land)for a few days, So when he then got the culture back and switched me to cephalexin i was thrilled thinking I would be a functioning human again.

Not so much. I spent the following 4 days in a medicated blur. No recollection of what happened during that time.
Over 4tgh of july weekend i was fine. And i was okay for most o fthis week. And then all of a sudden tonight, it hit me like a ton of bricks and i was unable to do ANYTHING except sit and laugh at myself for about 5hrs.

And this was 9 days into my Rx!(only supposed to be 10 days but I tend to only take 3 doses a day instead of 4)

I know someone else said it: it makes me feel like i'm on acid or something. straight up CRAZY. Actually, like I took marijuana. Cuz I kept laughing and was insanely hungry. And, apparently, extremely dehyrdrated since I drank about 8 cups of water in an hour.

Also causing massive vaginal itching and dryness. I feel like a guy cuz i'm constantly scratching my crotch :) It's sooooo embarassing!

I have a friend thats a doc that things i'm nuts when I tell her my side effects but it's like.... a curtain comes over my eyes and everything gets all hazy. I'm exhausted yet unable to sleep. Wind up watching like 10hrs of mindless tv until the fog lifts becuase I literally CAN'T do anything else

EAT HI GRADE YOGURT and a lot of these problems will go away. the reason you are getting sick is because you have wiped out your stomach flora. Foe me the effects are a lot like a waking nightmare.

I started taking Cephalexin yesterday, my dentist perscribed it along with Tylenol3. I was really dizzy yesterday and just not all there. Today I did NOT take a Tylenol3 (thinking it might have been that making me loopy) I am worse than yesterday. Cant think straight, in a daze, cant hold a conversation, tired. Gonna give it another day, if it gets worse, im going to the doctor.

my face and inside my nose is itching and hurting...i can't stop sneezing and my eyes are watery. this occured about 30 minutes after taking this medication

Has anyone that u know passed away after taking keflex or cephalexin. My mother took this med and had a reaction known as stevens johnson which starts out as a rash and ended with 95% of her body being burned. She was in a burn icu unit when she passed away. So please I need to know if there has been anymore cases like my moms.

My dog had allergys and the vet perscribe cephalexin 500 mg and she is now dead so, warning do not give it to your dog!

I hate Cephalexin. I have food intolerances but have never had any sever side afftects to antibio. until now. Minor side affects: headache, nausea, stomach irratations. Very concerning side affects: Unusually intense/hard heart beats and heart flutters. I have been very anxious/irratible. I was prescribed 500 mg 4 x's a day for an infected bee sting. I have been off the meds for about a week (I only took 2/3 of recommended course.) I still have the side affects though. Does anyone have any idea of how long it takes for side affects to go away? Any natural ways to help reverse the damage done? I have vowed to pursue a naturpathic doc for my future main doctor. Thanks for your help. Diane

Does anyone know of a natural, herbal or homeopathic antibiotic I can give to my doggy? After reading some of the posts, I am afraid to give my doggy Cephalexin.

My dog had the same reactions today to Cephalexin, staring, standing, vomitting, swollen neck, diarea, aching, difficutlty breathing, sore, shaking.
He is currently at the vet with an IV and being monitored.

If anyone has any add'l advice what to do, I would very much appreciate it. Thank you.

My husband does not seem the same since taking Cephalexin 2 months ago and most recently again starting 2 and a half days ago. Paleness, slightly different complexion color, difficulty breathing, sleeping too much, irritability, heart palpitations. He is about 50 years old and has had heart palpitations before when not sleeping enough and needs to lose a bit of weight. But, I find it odd that something has changed consistently. Maybe it helped spur a health issue. It's as if he cannot handle life as normal functioning of health.

Did you stop taking the Ceph. med. after the the pinhead-sized bleeding blisters? I seem to have that side-effect too, along with an incredible amount of itching. I'm wondering if you stopped taking it how long after did it feel better. I have basically the same thing you had.

My 4year Old Rottweiler was prescribed Cefalexin just over 2 weeks ago now for a skin infection around his eye, he has finished the course which was 1 x 750mg tab twice daily.. since finishing the course he started vomiting after meals, his hind quarters are deteriorating & he is struggling to walk, he is arching his back as though in severe agony with his stomach & he has become really lathargic.. He isnt the same dog as he was just under a month ago.
The vets have done a full blood screening, which I will get the results of next week but Im just wondering if this drug has caused his problems?
Has anyone had a dog pull through after a course & what where if any the health issues?
