I was wondering if anyone who is on celexa has ever taken diet pills too. I bought these diet pills called rev and i don't know if its safe to take them while i'm on celexa. Has anyone done this? can you please tell me your experiences with diet pills and celexa?

I suggest you talk to your doc or pharmacist about this. They are best equiped to give you sound advice.

I'm taking Celexa and Xenical.

Xenical is not really a "diet" pill but it prevents your body from absorbing all of the fat in the food you eat.

I've had no problems due to an interaction between Celexa and Xenical (jeeze, they sound like Greek arch-enemies or something!). However you have to be careful to find the right dosage of Xenical so that you don't have "accidents" when you fart. You're supposed to take one 120 mg tablet with each meal you eat that has fat in it. I was taking 2 a day but got a nasty surprise a few times when I farted.

I'm only taking 1 a day now. The weight is coming off slowly (about 2-3 pounds every two weeks), but to me the important thing is that my weight continues to go down, I don't care if it takes longer to reach my goal. And at 1 tablet a day I can fart to my heart's content (or should that be to my butt's content) without them leaving "footprints" on the way out...

By the way I've also posted my experience with Xenical on this website in the Xenical forum (see http://www.topix.net/forum/drug/xenical ).

Annoy mouse,
How appropriate is your moniker and how expertly have you pinpointed the complete and utter insignificance of yourself and anything you stand for.
Please go away.
You are not even considered to be welcome.
We can do without societal flotsam the likes of you and cllectively expect you to end up there where you belong; that is, we expect you to assort to the societal garbage heap where all truly vile things and objectionable objects eventually get to wallow in the ultimate failure and lacking of their possibility of redemption.

Seriously, people. We should all talk to someone (i.e. a doctor) who may know a thing or two about what these drugs actually, physically do to your system and not be offering medical advice all willy-nilly. This forum is a place to air concerns, share experiences, and offer a little support for a (sometimes) scary process, no?

Also, as far as diet pills are concerned -- I'm no doctor, but... Exercise? Eating healthy foods in moderation? Anyone? Bueller??

Diet pills, regardless of whatever variety, are NOT a good solution when on any mood-stabilizers or SSRIs since they muck up the the titration-levels of your medication. You run the risk that your medication leaves your body faster than it should, resulting in all kind of unpleasantness.

Hi Sharron,
No matter how herbal they are, any diet pill that causes your 'output' to be increased, sped-up or otherwise affect your metabolism will adversely impact your serotonin levels, the levels of your SSRI and with that the efficacy of your medication.
Besides that, being herbal does not nescessarily mean that those diet-solutions are better or less adversely impacting than allopathic medications. Often they are not, since the content of their active ingredients are less often and far less stringent subject to sufficient oversight and monitoring of side-effects. Please be careful.

Best Regards,

I've just started taking celexa (10mg for the first 14 days, 20mg after that). I've browsed the internet a bit and read nothing but BAD things about this drug. Has anyone had GOOD outcomes taking Celexa?

WELLBUTRIN (BUPROPRION) is an antidepressant, one of the very few I'm told, that can help in losing weight. I was on it for a couple of years and I stayed thin and fit....stopped using it after 2 years, started having panic attacks.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Sagittarius

A loved one gets hold of the wrong end of the stick today, causing endless hassle and fuss. They're likely to get upset in the process, so you have to calm them down, and that could lead to a squabble. You may also have to cope with discord when discussing family matters, with certain people getting bogged down in daft details that you think have nothing to do with the main issue.
