I have been taking celexa for 5 months, Other than the expected side effects at the beginning of use I have had no problems. Now I have increased dosage to 40mg a day it is working better than ever.

I am entering my 3rd week of Celexa treatment (10MG per day) I didnt notice any change until two days ago. Today my stomach hurt very bad all day long, my skin was tingly, and my nostrils were numb. I felt like vomitting all day, but have not done so. Surprisingly, I have been able to eat all day long.
My doctor is on vaction till the end of the month, and his nurse said to keep taking it till he comes back. She said that it sounded like my body has created a dependancy for Xanax (which I have also been taking daily for 3 weeks from same doctor) when I told her I had not taken Xanax in two days because I didn't feel anxious...and wanted to see how the Celexa was making me feel by itself.(I find this hard to believe, since I never exceed dosage with Xanax, and have only been using it for 3 weeks) It was so severe today I dont know if I can make it till my doctor comes back. I hope its just signs the drug is working, and will even itself out soon. I am rather disturbed the nurse thinks this severe of pain can be from Xanax withdrawl... |

CAN A PERSON BECOME "iMMUNE" 2 CELEXA AFTER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME?...
|
||||

This could very well be Xanax related. All of the benzo's have nasty withdrawal effects and Xanax can be particularly tough. Although it has been a short time and you have kept to the dose the abrupt stopping causes many withdrawal effects.

I am wondering the same thing. I have been taking Celexa for about 6 years now. I tried to go off but the side effects were too bad. I function with everyday activities better with celexa but in the past 6 months I have had many depressive episodes and have experienced anxiety. |

|
My Doc told me they do sometimes become "immune" like. She said you can usually switch to another SSRI for a time then back to celexa.

I have been on Celexa for 4 years between 5-10 mg a day. I feel that this drug numbs me out. I notice that when I take 5mg I dream more. I also invent more I am more creative. I also have more energy. I also loose my temper quicker. I feel that this is a dance with the Devil an arcane balancing act that is impossible to win. Celexa did however stop a ruinous depression at least twice. Any comments or thoughts dear readers |

i have been taking 10mg celexa for a month just feel tired all the time

I feel more tired then ever too! Having a 2 1/2 year old son doesnt help :-)
Question for those of you taking Celexa for long periods of time: Is this something addictive? I don't want to be on it, if I have to take it for years and years to help w/my anxiety. Of course my anxiety is due to stress at work, and hubby goin' away playin' ball for 6 mos... |

One more question: Did anyone gain or lose weight from taking Celexa?
|
||||
|
unfortunatly gain maybe 15-20lbs... But, might be my own fault. Definitly harder to loss weight, but if you watch yourself (which I haven't been) I think you can limit it.

First month, felt great. Then started gaining weight and became very sleepy. I was sleeping much more than usual and wanting to sleep at times when I couldn't. The alarm became my enemy. After 3 months and 8 lbs., I decided to stop. I weaned down on dosage over 2 weeks and now haven't had anything for 3 weeks. I feel some energy and my sex drive coming back, but having a lot of dizziness. Hopefully, that will stop soon. Has anyone seen the weight come off after stopping Celexa? How long before I stop this dizziness and how long before I might see some weight coming off? I've been really watching what I eat and expecting to see the scale come down, but no luck yet.

I have been on Prozac (for depression) for 15 years and I think my body just got immune to it so the doctor changed my perscription to Celexa 20mg's a day. Since starting Celexa, I have lost my appetite and cravings. I have only been on Celexa for two weeks and I have lost 8 lbs. I also feel so much better already(even though my Dr. told me it might take up to four weeks to notice the effect of it). By far this has been the best anti-deppresent yet.

Have been on Celexa 40 mg (generic now) for five years. My weight has never been more stable in my life. I no longer binge. |

I started Celexa just before Christmas 05. It took a full 5 weeks to get full benefit. Anxiety was worse - needed Citalopram for 2 weeks. Lot of disturbed sleep. Some stomach problems, dry mouth. Since end of January, 95% good days. Have needed a few low dose Lorazepams. I'm not trying to rush anything. But, I can definitely understand why some people try to go off meds - when you feel good, you start thinking you don't need meds. My GP said I should think in terms of 2 years. The shrink figures we can try to lower the dose in summer - more daylight, more exercise. We'll see.

I have been on Celexa for just over 3 weeks now. Started at 5mg for a week then up to 10mg. I have had depression for several months and then panic attacks started so I went for help.
I have had a few good days in the past week but still have more bad days than good. I understand this can take 4 - 6 weeks but how gradually do the effects come on? On the bad days I wonder if it is really helping. |
