Hi,
I have been on Celexa since May 2005. I was making slow but steady progress on Celexa 40 mg/day until about three weeks ago when I started to regress and those old bad feelings started to close in on me again. I had a consultation with a psychiatrist yesterday (a one-time visit for an assessment, ordered by my family doctor). The psych suggested I should maintain the Celexa at 40 mg/day and add Wellbutrin 150 mg/day to try to boost me out of my regression and into feeling better again. I will be seeing my doctor next month and he will decide whether to implement the psych's suggestions. Has anyone specifically taken Celexa together with Wellbutrin? Did the two together make you feel substantially better and did you continue with the two or gradually replace the Celexa with Wellbutrin? Or did the doc just keep tinkering with the dosage of each drug as your condition changed? Any comments would be appreciated. |

I was on celexa for years. I changed to wellbutrin and xanaax and it is awful. I am moody, angry, and moe of a b...ch than you can imagine. I am going to be married in 1 week and I am going today to get off of the wellbutrin and back on celexa. My fiance says it makes me ugly and I agree.

I have taken both and the combination worked beautifully. I am now only taking celexa and I am about to add Wellbutrin. I would have been taking both but I had to slowly get on celexa first. After being on celexa only for 2 years, I find I need the Wellbutrin as well.

1 I currently take lamictal (200 mg), sometimes clonazapem, and have just been prescribed celexa, so unsure what this will do. I have found that Prozac has side effects I do not like, wellbutrin is horrible terrible for me, and after increasing crying, up to 5 hours per day on 9 months of nortryptyline (sp?) I found that was not an option either. Good luck to you---I really think this entire labyrinth of medication is an individual trial and error and it can be hellish---I would rather not have to take a thing but for some reason that is not the plan God has for me right now. |

the combination worked great for me, but I quit the wellbutrin because it ruined smoking for me. I'm tired though and lack spontaneous feelings, so I think it's worth it and I'm planning to go back on it.

Ruining smoking... Isn't that a good thing?

I started recently taking Celexa and have been taking Wellbutrin for several years. One thing that I have noticed is increase appetite and a large amount of weight gain. I am going back to my doctor next week and going to let her know I want to come off Celexa. I have had no problems with Wellbutrin over the years.

When I was first given Wellbutrin it was to help me stop smoking. Several years later I was still smoking and did not stop smoking until I had two heart attacks last year. That's an eye opener.

In December I stopped taking Paxil because it had lost it's effectivenesss. I began taking citalopram, but I still felt an edginess I couldn't shake. My doctor added bupropion last week and I already feel a difference. Needless to say, I'm thrilled. She told me that another patient had a similar experience w/meds, and she described taking one as 'keeping her from falling in the hole'. When she added bupropion to the mix, she said 'it paved over the hole'. What a lovely way to say it.

i have been on wellbutrin 300 with celexa 20 for the last 1.5 years. i have also taken one without the other at points within the last 2 years. i find that they together work much better for me that one without the other. together they combat anxiety, post-partum (2 years twins) and obsessive compulisive.....

shortly after my ex went on wellbutrin and celexa, she started feeling so good, that she lost all sense of morality. 6 other relationships and $100K in credit card debt. Like I saie "EX"!

I am also on Wellbutrin (300mg) and had celexa added in. I've gone from 108 pounds to 147. I have been told "weight gain is not a side effect" and "women commonly gain weight after menopause" (I'm 53). It's validating to hear that other people have had the same problem with weight. |

i have been on celexa 20 for almost a year and it has been working great for me, about 80% of my anxiety disorder is under control and my depression is gone.my feelings are now clear instead of numb and constant negative.BUT i have had
1.more random stronger panick attacks....anyone else? 2.crash of my sex drive so i got just prescribed 150 wellbutrin to take with it to counter act the side effect...as this ever helped anyone who had the same problem? 3.any seizure cases of this combo? thanxxx |

i believe the weight problem isnt from the medication, its from the suppression on anxiety and depression that leads to a increase in appetite since you are enjoying life more and worries and sadness are not filling up your tummy!!! im a 5'6 girl and in bad phases of anxiety/depression i would find myself barely tiping the scale over 100 pounds and i have NO eating disorders. since the meds i have gained about 15 pounds thanks to being able to relax and feel better!! |

wow, uhm this isnt great to hear, lol.
i just got switched from celexa to wellbutrin today. i hope it doesnt make me get worse. well idk if i could get any worse. dang... and i read wellbutrin wont make you gain weight, or change your sexual appetite. i think its the celexa that does that, cause that happened to me. |

I've been taking Celexa for a few months and was feeling much better until a few weeks ago. I went completely downhill and I was afraid of myself and what I might do. My doc put me on 150mg of Welbutrin as well and I feel a lot better.

last week my doctor switched me over from Lexapro to Wellbutrin. I was having problems with major lack of motivation and huge weight gain. The Wellbutrin has made me very anxious and irritable. I have been flying off the handle over little problems that have *never* bothered me ever. I also started crying in controllably after my doctor's receptionist put me on hold (for 15 minutes). That is a pretty extreme reaction. I hate this stuff and will not take it any more. I'd rather see how I can do without anything for my GAD.
