I was wondering if anyone else is taking 10mg of citaolpram and how it is working for them? I started about 2 weeks ago and do feel energized and can focus more clearly, i grind my teeth though. Do you think i should up my dose to 20mg? Would there be any difference and if so what is the difference? Any suggestions?

I am on day 3 of taking citaolpram and at times I feel really weird. Has anyone else had hot/cold waves and extreme dizzyness? I also get waves of tingling and my heart starts racing (that might be just cause I'm scared). Sometimes I feel like I am falling or tipping even when I am laying down. Has anyone else out there had these feelings or something similar?

I have been taking it myself for 4 days and have noticed some of the same things as both of you. I grind my teeth, heart races, a little dizzy or lightheaded. Other than that i feel great, positive thinking, easy going, relaxed, less stress and able to enjoy things, at least so far its only been a few days. I have never taken any kind of anti-depressant so i didn't know what to expect, the doctor gave it to me for stress.

At times I also feel light headed, but it passes. I also feel that my appetite has decreased. I don't know about the feeling dizzy part, but I know it is listed as one of the side effects, although I have not experienced it. I'm also taking citalopram for stress reasons and it seems to be helping out in situations where I would normally feel stressed I haven't been so I am pleased thus far!

I'm on 10mg too, I was wondering if I could have used a little higher dosage myself. I went to the doctor for stress and chest pains, he did an EKG which was fine. He said he didn't want to sedate me so he gave me citalopram. I was hoping for some valium or something but I am happy so far with this stuff. I'm still trying to get a feel for it but it has made a definite improvement with the stress, I will be able to judge it better at the end of the week when I am usually all tired and stressed out. But I felt great over the weekend.

i've been taking 10mg since 10-07 and i really did'nt have any side effects except being tired and sometimes dizzy so i started taking my dose at night before bedtime and it really made a difference for me. i would say it took about 4wks to notice a difference in my anxiety. give it a chance and see. my doctor put me on 20mg but i took it upon myself to only take 10mg and i'm glad i did because 10mg does great for me.

donna i'm not a dr but it seems like that doseage is tooo high. i've been reading different parts of this forum site and i've read from a few that they started off low and gradually moved up. it seemed to me like the ones that started low, like at 10mg, and gradually moved up had less side effects than those that just jumped in at 20mg or more.... talk to his dr

Donna, I agree with valerie, your son really should get back to the doctor quickly. A lot of antidepressants aren't recommended for teens because for some reason they can have really negative side effects. And they all affect people differently so perhaps this just isn't the right one. I started at 10mg and gradually worked up to 30, but 10 was perfect to start. Good luck.

Im on my 2nd week tomorrow with celexa, It has helped with my depression, OCD and my excessive negative thoughts. MY PROBLEM IS WHEN I TAKE 10mg which was prescribed I get really NAUSEATED, I FEEL ANXIOUS, and DIZZY. Today my left jaw was kind of tight and a little disturbing pain. Does this go away as you keep taking the meds? Sometimes I take Xanax to cope with the side effects. PLEASE HELP.

I'm also on 10mg of citalopram. I also have experienced some tightness in my jaw, I believe it is because I have been grinding my teeth since being on these meds. I am thinking of asking my doctor for a higher dose though, maybe to 20mg as I am still feeling anxious and sad at times when there is no need to be feeling that way.
So I can relate to the feeling anxious. I think it will go away tho. Im only on my 2nd week also and I know these are side effects listed.

Its fun isnt it Renee =(.. Im also thinking about increasing the dose when all of these side effects subsides which I hope comes sooner than later. I still feel anxious as well and sad at times. This morning I woke up very anxious around 2:am.. I wonder if taking 20mg will increase the side effects.. Maybe I should ask my Dr. Happy Days..

Yes. I have adhd as well as dep and gad. It helps with adhd. Sometimes its prescribed with citalopram to try alleviate sexual dysfunction. while it helped me with adhd it was no help with sexd.
Wellbutrin has zero effect on anxiety. If you have depression but no anxiety wellbutrin may not cause sex dysf that citalopram could.
But if you have no side effects from cit, there's no reason to switch to it. If you have adhd or add it might be of help.

Yesterday I went up from 10mg of citalopram to 20 mg. I am wondering how the transition went if anyone else has done it?
The side effects I had from starting the 10mg was itchy red bumps on my legs, racing thoughts, grinding teeth and some anxiety. I otherwise feel great. Lots of energy and motivation.. Im hoping that this continues and is not made worse by upping the dosage :-/ I guess we'll see.Let me know if you have any input, it's much appreciated!!

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Cancer

Take things gently otherwise you'll end up running round in ever-decreasing circles. Yes, you may still have a lot to do but you won't achieve very much if you develop butterfingers or waste all your energy on a full-blown panic. Maybe you could rope someone into helping you, rather than doing your Cinderella act in the kitchen while everyone else takes it easy?
