Had a glass of cold gas this morning!!!! I'd rather have some medical marijuana, that elevates my mood much better than anything else!! Oh Well!
Can't get a script for that! Jail not an option!

I had to switch from Lexapro to Celexa and it was HORRIBLE! My anxiety and depression came back.. I hadn't felt that way since I was first diagnosed with my bi-polar disorder. I DO NOT reccomend switching from Lexapro to Celexa even if it is cheaper. They are similar yet different drugs. Look up the difference between the two. I went back on Lexapro and within one day I felt alive again. Depression is so dark and weird and lonely and I would much rather pay money than use a cheaper version like Celexa.

I too have switched from Lexapro to Celexa. Noticed right away that Celexa didn't have the same strength of Lexapro. I think that they insurance companies are being ridiculous. There was reason that the makers of Celexa developed Lexapro. It's a much better option. I too have noticed the dizziness and low energy associated with Celexa but not experienced with Lexapro. I was reading online on a reputable MD site and it mentions that Lexapro is the only product which is licensed to treat anxiety.

Bottom line is for me, Lexapro is a far better drug for depression and the far more effective of the two for anxiety.

Insurance companies need to take a step back on this.

Hi -- I'm on day 5 of switching from 20mg of Celexa to 10mg of Lexapro. Major depression. Overly emotional. Lots of crying. My doctor totally didn't prepare me for this. She said it shouldn't make any difference at all. I'm thinking I should take 10mg of Celexa with the Lexapro for a few day so I can calm down a bit. Any thoughts?

im am currently changin from lexapro 20 to celexa 20 as a pharmacy tech i discovered that the human body is sensative to "fillers" in medication. also being on one medication and switch MAY have different effects possitive or negative so im weary also just be aware of the effects and give your body time to adjust at least 3-4 weeks should do it after that if your not happy u should consult a doctor i cant recommend anything but that my personal thought good luck!!!

I must concur with that most recent post. I had a very rough time with things when weaning off lexapro, and continued with fairly severe depression until I had been on celexa for a couple weeks, a month maybe 5 weeks total then i became undepressed. although my mood is better I'm struggling with some "depression behaviors" which I picked up again like sedentary tendencies etc. we keep getting up and starting again....

On Paxil, the generic and the doctor wants me to go on this citalopram. He seems to apply that it a "Happy pill". Is this new medicine so much different from Paxil? I'm tired but not too depressed now. I take pain medicine and I'm sure that that makes me tired. Any ideas out their for an 81 year old. I also have hardening of the artaries and have short term memory loss but not Alzhiemers. Thanks: I think that the doctor's idea is to take my mind off my memory loss and take the "happy pill"

Hello Pete,

I've been on all the ssri's since prozac came out around 1991, and then on to this newer type of drug that effects more than just the seratonin. I believe that each new incarnation of anti-depressant is more and more selective than the previous one in it's targeting of the particular neurotransmitter/s, and therefor less "side effects" for many but not all people. I need to switch drugs about every 2 years. Each time i start a new one it's like a wonder drug all over again. But then it peters out with time. Everyones body chemistry is different and the only way to find out for sure is trying the new drug for oneself.~Daniel

What I am most concerned about is the way the doctor kinda took the attidude that, "Take this happy pill" because there is nothing else that i can do for you. I can understand that, but it still bugs me. I will give it a try as it is so much cheaper than the other.
Thanks for the reply....Pete

that would be a self=centered but tempting option for your doctor to take, in the light of the fact that these drugs can in fact alter one's personality, and potentially take him or her off the hook. They tend to have a hard time with nothing left in their training to help you. It is an interesting existential dilemna you find yourself in, being pulled, against medical advice, to keep things "real". I would support you in either decision.

I switched from Lecapro to generic celexa and am not having all these effects. I work a rotating shift, so I'm tired a lot and I don't attribute the fatigue to the switch.

I was on Paxil for over 6 years and me and my dr decided that me and my body needed a change. He gave me a script for Lexapro 10mg, I brought the script to Walmart and paid $26 for 30 pills compared to $10 for 90pills of Paxil (generic). I can say I feel a lil bit better. Though just had a break up with my boyfriend, been collecting unemployment for 3 months and started school for a career change!> Thank god for Xanax tooooo!. dr gave me .5MG of Xanax i was like u need to up that, as im a BIG GIRL!>

I have been taking Lexapro 30 mg for a a few years now with good results. I switched from Lexapro to Celexa (40 mg) because of the cost too. I started on a Wednesday and felt great. But I started having what I thought were sinus headaches. Six days later, I am in such pain I can't believe it! I've had a headache all day! I wonder if it is from the Celexa? Has any one else gotten severe Migraine like headaches after being on this drug?

I think you have to expect some side effects until your body adjusts to the new meds. I switched to celexa (as stated above) and for now don't notice anything that would make me switch back to Lexapro. Works differently for different people.

Oh and it was a cost move for me too.
