I am having occasional anxiety days and the Doc prescribed this drug (very small amount) only when needed...does anyone have any info on this use for it? From what I am reading, it appears that it can take a long time for it to work (daily...up to a month) and that it could actually make the moment worse. So I would appreciate anyone's opinion if you have used it this way on the need be basis, not daily. I have never taken anything before now and don't want to have some freaked out reaction...dosage is 5mg.

Thanks, will wait to see if anyone has any comments on this before I take it or possibly just toss it out.

On a note...I don't know anyone who has used this drug at all. So no help or info on the home front.

I assume you are saying as needed for anxiety. I have never heard of this drug being used on an as needed basis. It is most always used in conjunction with something that acts fast on anxiety like a Benzo. Perhaps you should talk this over with your Doctor.

Xanax is what u are referring too. Very addictive. Very powerful. Feel effects almost immediately. Buspar is more subtle and safe.

i tried buspar and broke out in a rash and was itching really bad. I have severe anxiety and was hoping the buspar would work i saw really good reviews for it. Is there anything else that can be compared to buspar and be non addicting?

My P-Doc put me on Buspar as needed to treat my panic attacks. This was added to the Prozac, Wellbutrin-SR I take(for depression), and the Klonopin I take as needed for anxiety. I'm finding it does little to help my anxiety/panic when taken as needed. However, I've been taking stared taking the buspar as 10mg early morning and 5mg at noon on my own. After two weeks my anxiety is much better and my depression has improved. One problem, the delayed ejaculation I experienced at a higher dosage of Prozac has returned. I want my P-Doc to reduce my prozac dosage and increase my Wellbutrin. Time will tell how well it will work.

I find that using it as needed is best because daily usage takes a heavy toll on me. But now I can be more ative when meeting friends and others.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Pisces

Are you feeling fraught? It certainly seems that way, perhaps because you've got far too much on your plate and not nearly enough time to tackle it all. Do yourself a big favor and start with whatever is most urgent, otherwise you'll waste time by dithering or getting caught up in trivial tasks. Above all, don't get into a panic because that will squander valuable time and energy.
