I was lightheaded when I first started it too, but it made me feel so calm I didn't care. This lightheadedness or dizziness does go away.

i took buspar 11 years ago as an aid for cocaine withdrawl (anxiety). it made me dizzy, blurred vision i was on 10 mg twice a day. i tried it for over 3 month or so. the dizzines wasn't helpin' my axiety. i was a lot better off of it, so after a lil' more over 3 month i quit buspar. in my case buspar is worthless @#$%..it is my opinion that 8weeks is more than enough time for the body to adapt to a med, if you are still havin those disguting side effects for more than 8 weeks quit the med or tell the doc to change that stuff. by the way 11 years clean and not thnx to buspar...bacardi did the trick!!lol

I have been taking Buspar (increased slowly from 1/2 tab once a day up to 1/2 in morning and full tab in evening) for about two weeks now. I have to say, the dizziness, overheating, and numbness of my limbs after the morning dose has been really difficult to handle, but I have noticed that the symptoms have lessened a very tiny bit since my doctor reduced my morning dose to half of what she originally prescribed. I would suggest that anyone experiencing these side effects speak to your doctors to be sure your dosages are correct. Sometimes, they just don't get it right the first time around. Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that it does get better (slowly). Also, has anyone noticed whether or not coffee has anything to do with the side effects? I was thinking of that idea myself and wasn't sure if it would make a difference. Also, that suggestion of taking it early in the am and sleeping off the dizziness was genius! I'm going to try that! Thanks!

I take 7.5 mg in the morning and 7.5 mg in the evening; I notice the drowsiness more at night then in the morning; does anyone else have this? Also, I have not noticed the overheating or the numberness; just drowsiness most days.

I've been taking buspar since the end of August 08... It definately makes me dizzy... It starts about 10 minutes after I take it, and lasts for about 20 minutes.... I feel the benefit of taking the buspar is much greater than the dizziness I get. I take 22.5mg 2x a day.... I haven't noticed a 100% improvement yet for my anxiety disorder, but its definately helping me cope. I also take xanax and just started with added zoloft last night. Hopefully this coctail works.

I take 20mg buspar twice daily and I also experience the dizzy sedated feeling. It seems to be stronger at times, in the afternoon on some occasions I dont feel it at all but in the mornings it lasts for an hour. I have had wondeful results thus far with this medication so I think the pros out weigh the cons, but the dizziness does become a major issue at work because I take it during morning shift. Also I found that sleep deprivation increases the dizziness, so the better sleep you get the less dizzy you will feel.

bruce,
I take 10mg of Buspar but that was enough to make me really dizzy.
So what i did , was i cut the tablet in half , 5mg. I took it in the night. This really helped alot.

I just started taking Buspar 10mg twice a day. It is too soon to tell if it will work as my doc told me it takes about a month to really kick in but the 1 side effect I am having is quite intense. When I move my eyes or head it feel almost like an electric shock goes off in my head or someone turns a vibrator on in my eyes. It is very unsettling when you aren't expecting it. I actually called poison control and then followed up with my doc the next day and both said it was nothing to worry about. I am going to continue on with the meds but this side effect might not be tolerable to some people. As someone else said I have to sit on the couch or lay down for about 60 - 90 mins after I take my dose. I will try the waking up early then going back to bed technique. Thanks for the avice!
