I was put on Buspar because of anxiety attacks i was having causing me to feel dizzy all day long. The medication states that it causes dizziness and they werent kidding. It's really hard to explain to my dr how dizzy it is making me. I feel like my knees could buckle when i walk. This usually lasts about 2+ hours after i take it. I never do pass out/faint but i wonder if this is common? Or if it means i should discontinue? Basically, how dizzy is ok? The only other med i tried was Prozac which did nothing so i'm new to this. Thanks for any help!

Cut your dosage. I cannot take a whole bar that is why they are scored, Try a smaller dose |

I am up to 15mg twice a day (11 am and 11 pm) It makes be dizzy which sucks because that is one of my most irritating anxiety symtoms.....however my doc said it will take at least two weeks before the buspar 'works'....i am going to try to stick with it until i see him in a week....has this med worked for anyone?

This medicine has not worked for me yet and it has been a month. I am on 5mg three times a day which seems like nothing. I have not had any side effects with this but then again it isnt helping my situation either. I really dont know what to do. |

I experienced the dizzy, cloudy feeling as well, usually in the morning, but not every time. It's getting better now at the end of week 2. Anxious feelings have improved for sure. I'm not spinning around like a top and I've stopped chewing on the insides of my cheeks as well, which is really a good thing for me, since I was chewing the tissue till I bled. My energy level has leveled off. I used to have extreme bursts of nervous energy and then crash at the end of the day. Now I feel normal. |

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who has been chewing on the inside of his mouth. I just started taking Buspar - 15mg 3 times a day. Talk about dizzy, I usually have to sit or lay down for about an hour after I take it. I also glad to hear that it is getting better for you towards the end of week 2. I can only hope it gts better for me as well. |

Im not sure what to think about taking Buspar. Im not so sure if the Buspar worked or if things in my life got better about the same time I started taking it. Anxiety medications are so unpredictable, this causes more anxiety for me. I know I didnt get this way overnight but I sure want to find a quick fix.

I have been taking Buspar going on 5 weeks now. Initally, I was taking 15mg a day and it was increased to 30mg but that has made me feel drugged or dizzy. I was taking 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at lunch and a whole one at bedtime but I felt too drugged.

I too have just started Buspar, four days in at half of a 15mg tab. I take it just after my morning meal, and usually feel some intense dizziness (hot flashes, almost) for an hour or so before they subside.
No positive effect felt yet on my anxiety - I also take 2 5mg of Diazepam a day, which my Doc would like to ween me off of - but I'm encouraged by posters here that if you tolerate Buspar for a few weeks it really does help the anxiety. Curiously, it also seems to have upped my libido. I mean substantially. Nothing else has changed in my lifestyle or my diet, I'm in my early 40s and never had any difficulties in that department, but I can't seem to get enough!!! My wife was thrilled the first couple of days (and nights, and mornings!) but now she's not so sure...is this odd? I'm talking constant on-again off-again arousal, as if I were 20 again. (not complaining - but should I?) |

I was under the impression that mild dizziness was normal. However, if your at the point to where you have to lay down for an hour maybe your dosage is just too high for you. In any event, talk to ur doc

I seem to get dizzy when it is time for my next dosage 15mg. I take a full tablet in the am and a full tablet in the pm.

Does anyone ever feel funny sensations in the head from taking buspar? I often feel the dizziness in the morning. It lasts for a couple hours.

Everytime I take buspar I feel really sick for the first 1.5 hours. I get overheated, nautious dizzy, tired and weak. I've been taking it for about a year, and it started six months ago. Is this normal, or should I stop taking it??

I also get dizzy, but only when I take the morning dose. I am going to try to cut out the coffee and see if that helps. Has anyone found coffee to be a problem?

I've only been on Buspar for a short while (2x a day, I forget the dosage, 15mg maybe), and my morning dose pretty consistently makes me dizzy. About an hour after I take it I get too dizzy to function at work and have to lay my head down for 30 or 40 minutes. It goes away for the most part after that (I'll still feel "funny", but it's not bad).
My afternoon dose hasn't ever made me dizzy. That said, I changed to taking my first dose at 5am. I normally wake up at 7:30 for work, so I set another alarm and at 5 I take my morning dose and sleep right through the dizziness. I'm a deep sleeper so I haven't had any trouble yet of going right back to sleep (and I keep water and the pills next to my bed so I don't have to get up). This technique is working for me and I figured I'd share it in case anyone else wants to try it :) |

I have been taking 5mg, 3 times per day - 7am, 1pm, 6pm. However, today, I upped the dose to 7.5mg at 7am and feel like I am a spinning top and about to faint. Rolling side to side feeling and almost feel like I am about to "check out" permanently at times or just pass out. I thought I has dosed correctly, but apparently not...thoughts?
