Be patient. It took me six weeks before I got any effect from Buspar. And to my pleasant surprise it not only had an anti-anxiety effect, it also had a wonderful anti-depressant effect.

Good Luck

About 15 years ago I was put on Buspar for about 3 weeks until I stopped taking it. I found it to be dangerous and stopped the day that I ran through a red light at a very busy intersection(which I had never done in my life). The worse part of it was that after running through the red light, when I realized what I had done, I had no reaction at all. I was "unfeeling" to what I had just done and just remember thinking "oh well." From that moment on, I realized the effect of this medication and immediately stopped taking it. Thank goodness noone was hurt!

I've been on Buspar for 2 weeks and feel somewhat calmer. I'm on 22.5 mg a day. It has made me incredibly dizzy, but that is finally starting to get less severe. I have been starting to have more nightmares lately. has anyone else experiences this?

Started Buspar 2 1/2 weeks ago and am feeling less anxious. The only thing is now I find myself waking at night with night sweats. Anyone else experience this? This is making me more anxious, I can't win!

I've been on Buspar 6 years along with Effexor XR and Trazondone. I am trying to get off of Buspar as one doctor said they are finding in some patients who have been on Buspar for a long time can develop seizures. It has helped with Anxiety and Panic attacks. Has anyone else been on Buspar for a long time and have tried to get off the drug? The withdrawal symptoms for me are horrible, flash backs, pins and needles all over my body, nightmares and more. I don't know how long it will take to get out of my system, I don't know if I hang in to the end.

I already posted to the first thread on this forum, that yes I've also noticed an increase in my sex drive. glad to hear that it is not an anomaly (although I'd also like to think it was just *me* and not the meds!!).

I'm only taking 7.5 mg so far, on my fourth day, in addition to 2x 5mg of diazepam. However, I just read that the combination of the two is not always recommended if the intention is to wean off of diazepam - which is precisely what my doc and I want.

Aside from the episodic dizziness, I also awake extremely early in the AM. This is unusual, and I wonder if others have experienced it. Of course, combined with the libido enhancement, this means that my wife is suffering from lack of sleep too <blush>

ive been on the 7.5 mg for a few days now and havnt noticed too many bad side effects. There is definately a spike in sex drive and I do feel a little calmer than usual. Thats about it though. Everyone reacts differently to the drug, if theres too many side effects for you, try something else.

I slept awful for the first few days. Although this medication has some pretty severe side effects initially, they DO go away with time and your anxiety will decrease gradually.
