Yes, I have anxiety also, but my depression has been almost overwhelming, and my doc put me on Buspar to "augment" the Zoloft I am on. Problem is, I'm still depressed. And I'm seeing from this site that it takes a while to work, but has anyone seen any improvement in depressive symptoms with this drug?

I'll leave it to others to write with more authority, but my impression is that buspar is not for your depression - maybe to help you along if your Doc changes up your Zoloft?? It's not an SSRI so I guess it works differently.
On the other hand, my doc /did/ make a pitch to me about the positive aspects of buspar, saying that he has patients taking up to 45mg a day who feel "renewed confidence" after overcoming the anxiety. So maybe it helps with depression.

I've taken anti-depressants for a few years and I recently stopped taking prozac because of side effects. My doctor prescribed Buspar for my depression and it works extremely well and without side effects. She said that it has been used in Europe as an anti-depressant for several years, but in America testing was never done to classify it as an anti-depressant.

I have been battling anxiety and some depression for over 2 years. I am 51 yrs.old. I think that I fight this free floating anxiety and that it makes me drepressed.
My Dr. is starting me on Buspar tomarrow I am sure hoping that this will work. I have been on lexipro, wellbutrin, remeron, and a few weeks of Prozac{did't like it}.

I had a horrible time taking prozac. It gave me the worst migranes I've ever had to the point I could barely get out of bed. So far Buspar has been working pretty well for me as far as anxiety goes and yes, I have noticed I'm in a little better mood these days. Not sure if thats related to the drug or just the fact that my anxiety isn't bothering me as much anymore.

I've been on it for 2 weeks now and feel really tired and increased appetite and my stomach looks bigger. weird. it seems like any anti-anxiety or anti-dep. med makes you tired and fat. at least when i'm nervous and anxious, I'm thinner. i'm going to give it a good 2 months before i decided anything.

Start putting God in your life and this will help with your depression. Follow His commandments, read about all the miracles down through the centuries in the Catholic Church, Eucharistic miracles, statues crying, incorrupt bodies of saints etc. Read Scripture and start going to Church every Sunday and go to confession and receive The Holy Eucharist where Jesus truly is present and take your medicine, eat well, and exercise and you will see a difference.

It may take 1 to 3 weeks before the anxiolytic activity of Buspar (http://www.originaldrugs.com/buspar.shtml ) becomes evident. This drug shares some of the properties of the benzodiazepines. Never heard that it may be helpful for depression.

I know that this is an old forum post but I just had to give a response to Maureen. I am a Catholic and I do go to church and confession yet I am plagued with depression and anxiety. Hmmm... so does this mean that I'm not religious enough? Maybe if I play with snakes or whip myself my depression will go away? Saying that the Bible and going to church will fix your brain chemicals is idiotic.

I'll stick with the combo of friends, family, church and wellbutrin/buspar, thanks.

By the way Seth, if you are still around, how is the Wellbutrin/Buspar combo working out for you? The Zoloft/Buspar combo is amazing for me but I'm gaining weight on it so I'm thinking of switching to wellbutrin/buspar. If you're around please let me know! Hey, how bout that religious zealot!!!? I think she is loony tunes for real.

Yes, these things definetly help put things in there proper perspective.......Jesus is Lord and Savior, the Bible is G-d's Word and through Transubstantiation, Jesus is Present in the Eucharist!! I do go to Mass, Confession regulary, and have made baby steps of improvement over the last several years but there is still much to be done to "fight the good fight, finish the race and keep the faith" 2 Timothy 4:7

Is this Maureen person from the religious cult that doesn't believe in using medicines, not even asprin, the same cult that won't take their children to a doctor if their very ill, and the children die for a lack of modern medicine, that would of saved their own childrens life. These people make me sick. Maureen, God made man, and man made medicine to help save his creations, Your a freak Maureen. Good Day.

Yeah, I'm not much of a religious person, but I took no offense to Maureen's comment, as she DID say to accept God AND take your meds, exercise, and eat well....if you don't believe in God, you can ignore that part, but it still seems like pretty sound advice. I don't think she is a freak, she has her beliefs, and you have yours, so quit jumping all over other people who feel differently than you do.

Daily Horoscope for November 22

Capricorn

It is a rare Capricorn who lets his or her finances get out of hand, but many of you have become much more relaxed about money with foggy Neptune transiting your house of personal finances. You may be spending money just as fast as you make it, or you may simply have no idea how much you have at any given moment. It is time to get your finances back under control.
