I was prescribed 10 days of Biaxin, got generic Clarithromycin. (My Ins. only covered 7 days), on 7th day, I broke out in rash, and still have it 2 days later. It's on my face, neck, and chest. I also had headaches and loose stools while on the med.

prescribed for 14 days because of H-pylori bacteria. on day 10.feel terrible--nauseous, tired, terrible tast in my mouth all of the time. diarrhea. this is the worst!

I have taken only 3 days of Biaxin and can't stand the extreme fatigue and bad taste in my mouth -- think I'll stop taking it right now after reading similar postings by others. My blood pressure went up several points since before I started taking it for sinusitis 3 days ago and I feel it has affected heart rhythm. I feel these side effects may worsen so have decided to not take any more of this drug -- I'd rather have sinusitis.

Biaxin (generic name clarithromycin http://www.originaldrugs.com/medicine/clarith... ) is a broad spectrum macrolide antibiotic. This medication has the potential to interact with other drugs. Most common side effects are diarrhea, nausea, abnormal taste, dyspepsia, abdominal discomfort, and headache.

I'm been prescribed biaxin several times for oral infections and never had a bad reaction. If you take a statin drug for cholesterol you have to stop taking it while taking biaxin because they interact,same as with erythromycin, to which it is related.

Currently taking Biaxin....I have a terrible taste in my mouth and I've had terrible fatigue since I started it.

Currently taking the drug, had immediate impact. I think it is great, no side effects. I am 29 with no other medications. I recommend it over Amoxicillian.

Wow, I took one Biaxin a few years ago and ended up in Intensive Care for 3 days. It was prescribed for me for a urinary tract infection. Swollen tongue and feet and hands followed by anafelactic shock... unconcienceness... I woke up in the E.R. on a table with 5 or 6 people performing CPR on me. Later on the er doc tells me, "Do you know how close you came to dieing?" Allergic reaction big time. For about a week my upper half of my body looked sunburned... It was freaky.

I am on day seven of Biaxin XL to treat my sinusitis and bronchitis. The first few days were okay. By day four my night was awful...nightmares!! I have also have a bitter taste in my mouth, especially at night. I find it is relieved by eating a bit...a spoonful of dry oatmeal, some honey, and water. It seems my temperature doesn't go down, though, which is a puzzle to me. It stays at a constant 98 to 99.2. My temperature is usally 97. It's day six now...still the night. I have a feeling of heartburn. Maybe it's the grapefruit I ate before bedtime. Had a bm (very loose stools), which helped somewhat.

Very loose stools, nightmares, temperature is one to two degrees warmer, bitter taste in mouth, especially at night. Eating lightly (spoonful of oatmeal and honey) helps me at night. This night I have heartburn. I'm on day 7 now. Nightmares especially bad on day 4.
