My husband has been taking Bextra for a while. Now that he cannot obtain Bextra, his knee has become very painful. He did not have any pain while he took Bextra. I cannot believe how much this pill helped him.
Is there a medication that we can get that replaces Bextra other than Celebrex.
Celebrex does not help him at all.
His physician said he might need a knee replacement.
Any suggestions? Thanks, Jackie

I took Bextra for osteoarthritis and it was fantastic. I can't take Celebrex as it gave me a rash although it helped as well. I'm now relying on Ibuprofen but it only eases the pain. I wish they would bring Bextra back for those of us who experienced no side effects and are not at risk for cardiovascular disease.

I took Vioxx years ago and it was good for my Osteoarthritis but eventually it began hurting my stomach. Then I went to Celebrex and got no relief. When they developed Bextra..my Dr. had me try it and it was wonderful. I continued to take it regularly..with no problems, until they pulled oit off the market. My life has changed dramically since then. Nothing helps at all..I wake up hurting and go to bed hurting. My dr. told me recently that many of her patients have told her the same thing. I wouldn't hesitate for one minute if they brought Bextra back.

Jackie,my partner's parents have hadgood luck with accupuncture, they both found relief.I personally would like to see Bextra back on the market.Nothing else has ever helped my back pain since 1984.The muscles have tensed in my back to the point where it pushed it out of alinement, now I also suffer from pain and numbness in both feet and legs besides the pain in my back.hope you find something soon for your husband, I know his pain!

Better to have a little osteo pain than have your brain fried as a result of taking Bextra....I was taking it for my knee and had a stroke 6 months into therapy....I continued taking it for another 6 months until my kidney specialist asked me to stop....7 months after that I had a heart attack....be very careful with all that COX-2 crap!!!!!

I was on 20mg Bextra daily for about 5 years. Since it was pulled off the market, I've had to start Methotrexate and Enbrel therapies and am still in a lot of constant pain. Methotrexate is TOXIC - you are not even allowed to dispose of any leftovers yourself! Enbrel cost $1300/month and I had to change jobs and move to another state to be able to get it! I think if I were going to have issues with Bextra, it would have happened within the 5 years I was using it. AND I HAVE YET to read any side-effects from BEXTRA which could begin to compare to the side-effects from what I am taking now!!!

I had taken Bextra for 3 years before it was taken off the market and have experienced no sideeffects. I didnt even have a clue of all of the sideeffects related to this drug. I found a lot of useful information on http://www.bextra-information.com

I've had RA for 23 years. Bextra was wonderful for me. I stopped taking it when they took it off market, but have a lot left over. I save it for the flares and will be very unhappy when they are gone.

Bextra was an unsafe drug. It may work in some people, but unfortunately it affects can do harm.
I for one had bilateral pulmonary embolisms and spent a week in ICU. Was on blood thinners for a year. Remember any drug is a poison and careful consideration should be taken before starting them.

It was the absolute best medication I have ever tried for my osteoarthritis. I now am taking daily tramadol to alleviate pain. I am sure that is not good for my system either.

I WANT IT TO COME BACK ON THE MARKET. Just make the people sign a consent to take it knowing all the facts. I would take it again in a heartbeat!!

Bextra worked for me.
Now I suffer each day wishing for help. Docs says here take a narcotic. Doesn't work.
Some of us need Bextra back, to live again.

I have 14 Bextra pills left and I have been saving them for when my knee pain became unbearable. I have take 3 pills and my knee pain is all gone. These frivilous lawsuits have taken a drug away that works. Don't these people realize that the heart disease that causes heart attacks started long ago before they started taking Bextra. People who wanted to get rich quick ruined a good anti-inflammorty pain relief for those of us who need it. I would be willing to sign a waiver just so I can receive the medication. It works and that is all I have to say about that. Gina Walk
