severe lower back pain

Has anyone experienced lower back pain from benicar??My lower back is kiling me and the doctor cant seen to find out why,I THOUGHT I READ SOMEPLACE IT COULD CAUSE LOWER BACK PAIN.

i am also dying from lower back pain and am suspecting benicar.
if you get this........please let me know what you have discovered since your posting.

I have had lumbar trouble for 18 years (had a surgery in 1989) but it seems to have gotten significantly worse with incrased Benicar.

I have been taking Benicar for some time now. After the doctor increased my medication to 40 mg I began having lower back pain (mostly on the left side).
Just checked out healthsquare.com under side effects.
Here is what I found:
Less common side effects may include:
Back pain, blood in urine, bronchitis, diarrhea, flu-like symptoms, headache, high blood sugar, injury, runny nose, sinus inflammation, sore throat, upper respiratory tract infection.

Thank you gys for your comments. I wondered why my lower back was so much more painful of late! That is one side effect I had missed. My main concern was with the elevated blood sugar (hyperglycemia) After taking the benicar for a few months, plus Lexapro,(for depression) and Melatonin for sleep, I was diagnosed with diabetes. I have NO family history of diabetes and knew that was not right. I got off the benicar and other drugs, and lo and behold, the "diabetes" went away. I have been placed back on Benicar HCT now and am fighting the docs, but boy oh boy, the back back has started in again!

Interesting! I've been having lower back pain for two days, a very uncharacteristic problem for me. Also, I've been experiencing an itchy scalp. This is not something I've had before either. I wonder if Benicar is the culprit? I'm on only 20 mg. a day and have been on it for about three weeks. My blood pressure is much better though!:) Any thoughts from out there?

My lower back started hurting me wednesday night , i went to the ER yesterday and all they did was give me a shot in each arm and send me home with pain pills. My back is so locked up i have to crawl to the bathroom. I took 2 Oxicodine pills 45 minutes ago with no effets at all , my back is still killing me and now i have a really SEVERE headach.I might have someone drive me back to ER.

My Dr. switched me to Benicar 20 mg, have been taking for only about two weeks. Started have low back pain after about 4 days, that has gotten increasingly worse. Have switched back to my old med to see if it clears as it has become increasingly severe. Have had some back problems before but not for several years and have done nother to strain my back, so I suspect Benicar.

I have been on benicar for a year or little more and I started experiencing boughts with lower back pain, leg pain, especially my left leg and hip. But then the dr. raised it to 40 mg and the pain has become non stop and severe so severe I have had to crawl up the stairs at nights after a day at work. I believe it is the benicar I have no history of back or leg pain. Now they have diagnosed me with metabolic syndrome... I have gone off the benicar and replaced the benicar with herbs and am doing better - pain is easing.

I was on Benicar/HCL and started having lower back pain after about 2 weeks. It was constant throughout the day and my 3-4 mile runs felt like I was running a marathon. My doctor has now put me on Benicar (no HCL) and all was well until a couple of days ago. My back is staring to ache again. It has taken about 2 weeks for this to happen. My blood pressure is great, but I'll be calling my doctor tomorrow to see about a different medication.

Oh... forgot to mention the fact that it has caused impotency as well. As soon as I stop taking it, all is well.

I started Benicar 20 mg in March 2008. Have experienced back pain, especially mid-afternoon, and then it eases. Also have had 4 fainting episodes since starting this med as well as increases in creatinine levels and decrease in kidney function. Was put on 40 mg in July because BP still too high. I've now been diagnosed with hyperglycemia, which puts me into the metabolic syndrome. Has anyone else experienced the fainting issue? I've found it in several web sites, but my doc says Benicar is not the problem.

Yes, I was taking 40mg Benicar in AM and when I went
to adding 40mg in the PM after 2 weeks my blood pressure
was great but I began to get horrible back pain shortly
after taking the PM dose. I forgot to take it one nite and
Viola, no back pain. I tested 2 more nites with regular
dose and then skipping and the same happened. Had to quit
the Benicar. That was 2 years ago and BP out of control despite
4 meds. I am again taking 40mg AM and 40mg PM we'll see if
I can tolerate it. Here's hoping
