April 16,06 I have been taking Benicar for 6 days and last night I woke up with the most terrible joint/muscle pain, I could'nt figure out what it was it felt like a carlie horse. I finally got out of bed and a got a heating pad and took a advil. While i was laying there a remembered seeing something about this when I was reaching Benicar. So my respones is yes i have the same pain? Kimberly

I have been using Benicar, 40 mg, for high blood pressure, for over a year. I was told by someone who used Benicar that it caused his glucose, triglycerides, and AC1 numbers to be very high, indicating diabetes. I am not overweight, exercise regularly, eat carefully, but my sugar test results are very high. Has anyone else experienced these side effects, or do I suddenly have type 2 diabetes?

Yes i to have had problems witht that,My last blood test showed my sugar levels realy high,I TOLD MY DOCTOR what ive read on the net,Shes checking into it,But im still on the drug,

I'm here looking for other people with joint problems because my doctor also insists that my knees, foot and rib muscle pains are not connected to the Benicar. I believe they are . I have taken only 5 mg of Benicar for 2 years (I lowered it from 10mg because I felt my blood pressure was too low).
If 5 mg can lower my blood pressure to normal, what else does it do to me?
2 months ago, my knees were hurting to the point that it was painful to wak. The MRI shows bone bruises on my knees for no apparent reason. My left foot, first diagnosed with a neuroma isnt one because the pain now moves around. My ribs get sore just from swimming or stretching, and then hurt a lot every time I sneeze. Its painful to lie down and get up. Aleve helps, but I really dont want to take it for the rest of my life, nor do I really want to take Benicar.
Everything started at once 6 months ago, and normally I am strong, healthy, a dancer, a walker, and generally love being on my feet.

Yes, when I took Benicar during the day my eyes would just keep closing and I would fall asleep, this was only a few hours after getting a full night's sleep. So I took a nap for a few hours, and then woke up, and STILL felt tired. So I started taking it before I went to sleep for the night instead of during the day. But 1 night I forgot it, and the next day I had intense pain in my legs, they felt weak and rubbery and at the point where my upper thighs meet my upper torso, I had such pain in both legs that every step I took was painful. I am sure that the fatigue and the joint pain is from the Benicar.

I believe yes-- As I said earlier I have metabolic syndrome this means high blood pressure, high triglycerides, insulin resistance and weight gain. The weight gain has surprised me I have never had a weight problem.

I have had horrible muscle and joint pain... I am in good health..I have been taking Benicar. When I looked up the side effects, these are listed.

HELP...has anyone found a BP med that doesn't 1. cause terrible joint pain 2. Doesn't make hair fall out. I have taken Benicar,Cozaar,Caduet,Verapami l.
Some of them made me feel like I was hit in the back with a bat.
