ASHLEY wrote: WHY IS NO ONE LISTENING TO THE KIDS????? I have counted four comments on this page that seem to be from Nicks friends who were possibly at this party, and seem to know alot more about what happened than anyone. You are all too busy arguing over who is making the situation worse than looking at the whole issue. WAKE UP!!!Times have changed. Being a 21 year old college student i know. If you would all take the time to listen instead of arguing over whether in your opinion this was intentional or not, you should all pull together and come up with a solution to the problem. covering up an overdose with a suicide is just masking the issue! How many of us have to die before you will listen??? WE ARE YOU FUTURE!!! This is coming from a 21 year old college student she is out of high school and knows what happens in high school... Whether this was suicide or accidental overdose.. she is right WHY is everybody pointing fingers and nobody is LISTENING. In the last month there have been one attempted suicide, one suicide locally 2 more at foothill high in Redding. Then we have the long list of alcohol poisoning with one known fatality and several close calls just recently.. Why is NOBODY listening?? Believe me Ashley is right shut the hell up and start listening...Pay attention... Our kids are dying by their own hand whether it be intetional or accidental. These kids are our future. ASK YOURSELF WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP! and stop blaming!

The Buzz wrote: In talking with the parents of Chico, it is apparent that someone needs to remind them as to why the truth in the life and death of Nick Garber is important, not just to the family, but to the entire community. Nick Garber in his segment of the community, was a leader, scholastically, and socially and on both the football and ski teams. His personality was such that he was not a quiet kid and he interacted constantly and in a positive manner with those around him, including adults. He spent 6-12 hours a day 5-6 days a week with coaches and teachers trained in adolescent mental health issues. Nick also had a large diverse and proactive, family support system. No one, family, teacher or coaches saw ANY issues with Nick’s mental health. Additionally, the community should be reminded that in the first 40 days of 2009 there have been one attempted and one successful suicide in the Chico area high school population in addition to Nick Garber's death. If mental health was an issue with Nick Garber, as the CPD conclusion of suicide indicates, and as it was in the other two cases, then the community, and the professionals need to re-examine the mental health problem indicators they are trained to look for. These types of deaths CAN NOT continue to occur at this rate in this small community. Overwhelming evidence is beginning to indicate that Nick Garber’s death was due to an accidental overdose of over the counter drugs and chemicals injested in the home of a friend. If this is the truth, the good people of Chico, including parents, law enforcement, teachers, mental health professionals and most of all the children need to be aware that there are new, evolving and dangerous trends in the social culture of their young adults. These are the reasons that the truth is important. Hopefully, the truth will serve notice and will be a positive instruction to everyone in the community of Chico California. Well said. I hope that the Chico Community is listening. This is much larger than Nick's passing and the truth is the key. Parents and students must be aware of why we turn to these things to get high. Why do we need these things to get high? I think that Nick and his family will rest in peace when we know what happened. And as stated above, it was probably a terrible accident where no one needs to be blamed, but Nick's name needs to be cleared.

It is understandable that they were afraid and did'nt say what they were on. Now, realize the heartache of the family, dealing with the negative ramafacations of suicide and all that it implies. It's horible what happened, it's beoynd comprehention what it's now doing to Nicks family. Someone has to know what really happend. If they would man up,....grow up, and put to rest the speculation, then peace would come to Nick and his family. Hey Joe, Maybe Nick went into his own bathroom & took the items without his friends knowing. A big possibility

I don't know which "Matty" you are referring to - the Matt Roberts who has been posting on here loved Nick like a brother and as hard as it has been, "he has accepted that which he cannot change" and he continues to grieve. He was not at the New Years Eve party - he was not at Nick's sleepover that night either. I'm sure whatever he has heard is the same story that was told to the police. It would be wonderful if all the kids who were at the party and the boys who spent the night would meet with Uncle Bob and Nick's parents and put an end to the questions - have the courage and maturity to tell all they know about that night and then let it be.

Anna was a good friend to lots of people, she had friends, and she knew in her heart that they loved her. but sometimes, a friends love couldn't cover up the pain she was feeling. she had other tragedy's happen in her life she couldn't bare with. i'm not saying it was the right way of dealing with things, but that's how she delt with her troubles. we wish our friend didn't, but atleast she'll be watching over her friends. she knew they loved her, and she loved them. just keep that to heart.
