the truth? I highly doubt it. But with all the outrage over thinking this is a suicide, it should at least make the cops take a second look.

Maybe none of us in the public will never know the full truth about this tragedy. I pray the Garber family has the answers they need to have in order to help them have some semblance of peace in their lives and time to remember the good things.
Maybe at this point we all need to look at this situation as parents, educators, kids, law enforcement and community in general and see what we can learn and take away from this horrific tragedy. Folks we are dealing with alcohol and drug abuse, suicide and depression in economic times with no budget and resources stretched thin.

Everyone needs to ask themselves what are they doing to help this or prevent this. A good Place to start would be just GET INVOLVED, volunteer, donate your time, show up and pay attention. If we want to know whats going on for our kids and our community we need to quit worrying about only ourselves but step up to the plate and do whatever you can.
A few suggestions-- volunteer at a school, coach a team, tutor kids, lead a club, Boys and Girls Club, be a Big Brother or Big Sister.
it's an investment in our future

Why can none of you get over the issue involving the suspended athletes? They were punished for breaking their contract with the school for drinking. They were not pouring rubbing alcohol down Nick's throat, they did not cause his death. It is unfair that just because they play a sport they are put under so much scrutiny for something that they had nothing to directly do with this. They have served their time, now let them enjoy their senior year. This is a tragedy, quit bringing up other issues. Let Nick rest in peace.

In no way would I blame the players for Nick's death. I won't speak for anyone else.

However, players have adhere to a code of conduct when representing their school. The punishment would be for attending such a party only.

One could argue that the schools would then have to suspend all kinds of student-althetes after each weekend. Yes.

The police said Nick left "writings" that added to their conclusion of suicide. I say, show me a teen who does not get down every once in a while...but they don't kill themselves. As a mental health clinician I find the ruling of suicide very doubtful. Outside of the writings and a few comments to friends to being down, he did not demonstrate anyother typical actions of a suicidal plan. And to do this at a sleepover? I don't buy it CPD. Further investigation is needed and should be demanded.

Does a friend know what happened to Nick that night?

I completely agree with your last 2 statements. Another issue: how come all CHS students are not held to a code of conduct? Interesting. Being a Panther - all should be held accountable to the code.

He was drinking all day up in Sterling City. He used to have a pet chimpanzee named Mr. Woobers that died from alcohol poisoning. Hope they put him away for along time!

A determination of suicide has legal ramifications. Your emotional responses may not be supported by the facts as determined by the investigation.

ok, I have to say something here because this is getting really annoying.
First of all, stop ragging on our basketball players. They were benched for drinking. At least they admitted to it and took their punishment(unlike PV).
2nd: I really doubt Nick killed himself. Geesh, if people read everything I wrote then they might think I was depressed. It is called being a teenager....we have our moments when we aren't perky and happy. Having a rough day does not constitute suicide!!!
With all the fun Nick was looking forward to having, i really doubt it was a suicide. Get real people, does that sound like the Nick garber you know?

my heart breaks for nick's family. but what i want to know is why the hell would somebody voluntarily drink rubbing alcohol??? and if it gives you a high, how the hell would you know that? the internet has become a bad, bad thing. way too much information for things that nobody should be able to know. after i'm done here, i could learn how to make a bomb, how to manufacture meth, or God knows what else. why cant somebody stop the insanity?!?!?!?

My son educated me candidly about whats really going on in high school.I was paralyzed in fear, but I did not panic even though I felt like it.I appreciated his candor because it gave me a window as to what really goes on.He informed me that kids will try to get high on almost anything, without the knowledge of the dangers of these things that they ingest. He told that even the "GOOD KIDS" partake. My son informed me that at that party that NICK was at that kids were mixing Benadryl with rubbing alcohol and laughing about it.He said that a lot went on at that particular party. He said that there was hard alcohol ,and exstacy among other drugs. He explained to me that there are certain drug dealers that actually sell drugs at school, actually to both schools. He said that most of his friends are considered good kids but they paint a rosey picture for their ignorant parents and actually laugh about it.This scared me to death. He also confessed to me that these drug dealers actually attended the high school.I did not want to hear these things I am really upset. One other thing that upsets me he said,"Mom Nick Did not commit suicide!"
Ignore your son the BCOE has it all in control, no really! Just ask them!

Suicide brings the notion of intent. He didn't kill himself by suicide.
Lose as a team, win as a team. I agree. However, why would the other kids who did not participate have to be punished? Players from both schools should have been suspended for the entire season, not just a few games. Blanketing the rest with punishment is useless.
A public forum? This comes up over and over. For what reason? I can see a meeting of those involved: those kids that actually know, the parents of those kids, the police, the school officials, maybe Nick's parents if they needed it. If this were open to the entire community, it would be nothing more than a firing squad. If it were left to those involved, it would be much more productive for whatever purpose it might serve. Since so many people claim the know "what really happened" and still aren't standing up for what is right, how would this forum solve anything? What I can see is AFTER such a meeting like this was held, then another one involving the community could also be offered if deemed necessary.
A agree that the his parents deserve more answers if THEY want it. None of us should speak for them unless by their request.
Guess What? Sticking up for something that you believe in is an old fashioned word called CONVICTION. It takes a lot of guts to have it. Teach your kids this in life. We all need this thing called conviction.Nick did NOT commit suicide. His friends can put him to rest with dignity,if they would only buck up an tell the truth.

Yes, that's also a rumor. Plus, there were also PV basketball players at the same party, yet, I didn't see any of them sitting the bench for any games.
Maybe I should stop posting. I know too much about this is and my heart is breaking for Nick's family.
Shame on you... if you know too much then you are the one that is responsible for the "suicide" decision. Talk to the authorities and be big enough to clear the whole issue & rumors...

It is your responsibility as a human being... to give the authorities info. to close this. Anonomus works...

Why is it that no one listens to the kids???? Being a young college student myself i encounter these things all the time, yet when i try to address a promblem i see it is all to often ignored. WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE TALIKING ABOUT!!! We are living these situations everyday. How many of us have to die before you will listen and address the problems at hand??? Garber didnt even get the chance to make it to college because of a poor decision not because he chose to take his life. Lets start dealing with the situations at hand instead of covering them up. THESE CHILDREN ARE YOUR FUTURE!
