has anyone had any negative effects from taking Uroxatral?

I've been reading the comments, now my apprehension has increased greatly.
I was diagnosed with BPH about 10 years ago, but only in Oct./Nov. 2007 did I start having urinary difficulty (frequent trips, many night trips, sudden urge to urinate). It is now interfering with my sleep; some nights I get up every 90 mins. or so. I took Uroxotral for about 6 weeks, then stopped because it was difficult to ejaculate. My doc says it is retrograde ejaculation (into the bladder) and that the sensations of orgasm are the same. He is WRONG!(Maybe it's been too long since he came.) He gave me a prescription for Avodart, but the potential sexual side effects scare me. With Uroxotral/Flomax-type drugs, ED wasn't a problem. Is Avodart worth the side effects? What's the incidence of ED and the muscle problems I've read about. I'm 49 years old and I still have an active sex life.

Sex: Lost and Found with Avodart:

77-y.o. male, 190 lb., with BPH, ED. The ED problem was solved with an inflatable prosthesis. But what profitteth it a man to have a wonderful erection if he loses the joy of using it? That's what happened when I took Avodart for a year: BPH was fixed, but I couldn't even enjoy masturbation, much less intercourse. The solution: lower the dose. I cut the dose in half by stopping the Avodart for one half-life (5 weeks) and then taking the Avodart only once every other day. Result: everything back to normal.(My urologist says that the half-dose should be enough to prevent prostate growth.)

Hello everyone,

I have used avodart for 3 months now and have a strange side effect : my skin at the sitbones, becomes very tense ( I can hardly sit) and then it
burst open so that you can peel the upper skinlayer. It might be an edema caused by avodart. Do others in this forum have similar experience with avodart?
