I feel I too may be suffering ill effects of
avandia which I took for over four years,until
late 2004 when it looked like curtains for me.
It seems that avandia has side effects which
greatly increase risks of problems that diabetics
are already prone to. So why prescribe it.

I have been on advandia since March 2006. After having pneumonia. Prior to this I was not on anytime of medication just diet and exercise. Since taking advandia I have had weight gain of 40 lbs and the numbers were ok but not as low as before. Decided to not take it and see what happened. Immediately I lost weight and my numbers have been within normal limits. Also I am on a exercise program and diet. So I am going to not take that stuff anymore.

Hi Monica. My mother just stopped taking the Avandia. She has experienced nausia almost daily after her noon meal. IT's been about three days now. I'm curious if you had the same results or anything similar after stopping the drug. Thanks

Is your husband having pain or muscle cramps? I take Avandia and have been having painful cramps in my side,legs,hands and back. Doc. said nothing to be worried about but would like to know if others have same problums. Thanks

There is not a generic substitute for Avandia or Actos. Typically, generics are not as high in quality as branded medications and cause more side effects. In some cases, cheaper is not better.

I have been on Advandia for over five years and I have never had a problem. It kept my blood sugar down and when I had my blood work done it was normal. However, on the tv they have talked about Advandia may cause heart attacks. I asked my Doctor if I could get off it and I have been off for 3 months. I will go next month and have blood drawn and if it is high he is going to put me on something else. I sure hate to give Advandia up for it has been a miracle worker for me.

My husband had muscle cramps, leg edema, weight gain, fatigue. He asked his doctor to cancel Avandia. His doctor said: "Nothing to be worried about". My husband passed away from congestive heart failure 3 months later.
Think again if YOU can trust your doctor.

I took Advandia for 14 months in 2005. My vision becamr very blurred, I wanted the doctor to take me off the drug. They wouldn't. My vision got very bad. I had what the eye doctor called Macular Edema (swelling of the eyes). I went of the drug and back on the Gulcophase and Gulcotrol. It didn't help my blood sugar ,but the blurred vision went away. I have been put on a shot called Lantus, and Gulcophase again. I am on almost 60 ml. a day at night before bed, and 1000 ml 2 X aday of Gulcophase. My blurred vision is back and I stumble and get light headed when I get up to go to the bathroom. I told my doctor, but he said it was not the drug. HERE WE GO AGAIN.
WHY DON'T DOCS LISTEN TO THIER PATIENTS. The drug company says to tell your doc if you are having certain symptoms, But they don't listen. They are human to. They are not GOD, But some are playing God. This is where the problems come from. Is there any one out there having problems with Lantus, and can any one tell me if Lantus and Advandia are closley related in what is in them.

I have Advandia since 2004 en yesterday the post brought me a letter from my doctor: I had to stop with Advandia because of problems, so the next time it will be another medicine.(My English is not so good, I hope you can understand it).
Now I am looking on internet wat the problems are.
Some of your problems I recognized, I have the same, but never thought it was because of the Advandia.
I stopped!!!!! Before I have another medicine.
I can't find anything in my own language (Dutch).

My husband was on avandia, he had swell or water retention, he took water pill and he also had back pain and his vision had gotten blurred. When he first started avandia he would get sick at his stomach and throw up. He is now deceased, so be aware of this medication. He also had respitory trouble after taking the medication. None of this until he started avandia, the last trip to the doctor he thought his liver was going from the medication. So if you are a heart patient be very cauious, it is no fun to watch a loved one go down hill and die.

Started taking advandia in Feb. 2004. I had a heart attack in April 2005 at the age of 49. The arteries in my heart closed up for some reason. I had quadruple bypass on April 11 2005. I stopped taking the drug in May. I feel much better now and the swelling is not there anymore to my legs.

It can cause blidness. I know very well. You will never get a doctor or the drug company to listen. You are on your own. Make them put you on something else. They won't listen unless you insist. I KNOW. I'm blind today in right eye and very blurry in the left. Can see only a little.

I'm not sure about the simulatry, but I have the same problem. The drug works very well during the night except I get dizzy and my blood sugars go down to much. I t plays out the next day and my sugars go very high again. Constant UP and DOWN. I am afraid to take more at night and my doctor won't let me take half at night and half in the morning. I told him how I act, but he seems to not care. I think they are just stupid. Most of them seem to play at being GOD. They need to listen more to their patients. We know and live in these bodies. We know more than they give us credit. WISE UP DOCTORS. PLEASE. You should take a gun and shoot us.

susan/ i was on advandia for about 3 months. after a month or so i started getting charlie horses in the back of my legs and then chest pains. ended up in hospital with angina. couldn't
lift my arms up shoulder high.once off these drugs all returned to normal as a diabetic.
