Amoxicillin/Clavulanate manufactured in India by Ranbaxy

My wife was prescribed Augmentin and it was filled generically with Amoxicillin/Clavulanate manufactured in India and distributed by Ranbaxy. She had a severe allegic reaction to the drug including unabated itching over her entire body. It also led to impaired liver function which led to jaundice. This in a very healthy woman. It took about 45 days for the adverse reaction to abate. It was hell. And of course Ranbaxy would not admit any fault. Yet now, two years later, we find out that there is little FDA oversight in India where these drugs are manufactured. And that Ranbaxy's offices in New Jersey have been raided by the FDA's Office of Criminal Investigations. As a result of this my wife is now afraid to take any medications. Does the FDA or Ranbaxy even care? I think not.

My husband was prescribed Amoxicillin for dental work in April 2008. Prescription was filled with the generic from Ranbaxy in India. He became weak and achy. Got worse with each capsule. Five days into the prescription he was in so much pain and so weak,was taken to hospital by ambulance.Hands and joints swelled. Developed a rheumatic condition, has been on Prednisone for 18 months. We now learn that Ranbaxy has been warned by the FDA for cross contamination,unsanitary conditions and falsefication of records, etc. Dr. says contaminate caused his immune system to attack his body. He is better now then he was 18 mos. ago but still not fully recovered. Has anyone else experienced anything like this from Ranbaxy Amoxicillin?
