I have been prescribed atenolol at 100mg a day since 1988; only recently have I (through a sudden diagnosis) been informed that I now have atherosclerosis most probably as a result of my medication. Is this a problem met by other users here? I have,over recent years posed the question to my doctor about any "long term" effects of the drug only to be told that "no one yet knew!" Not so I have found through research on the web.

I had problems with this drug but my doctors are not admitting to any known side affects. Please, what is atherosclerosis? Do you have other side affects? Please let me hear from you?
