This is both information for you and a question from me: After being on Arimidex for 3 1/2 years (the 1st 1 1/2 years I was on Tamoxifen) I was told I was done by my oncologist 3 months ago (9/07). There was no 'tapering off', just stopping taking the drug. All seemed to go well at first, with joint pains stopping after about 3 weeks. Then at about the 6-7 week point, with the estrogens coming back into my body (because the suppressant is no longer there), I began what I'm calling "sudden onset high blood pressure". After 65 years of perfect blood pressure 'through thick and thin', I have begun having wildly fluctuating highs and no getting back to normal yet even with the prescribed medications (Benicar). Have you heard of this reaction before? Any suggestions? The one thought I'm having is to do the ending of the Arimidex regime in a very gradual way, stair-stepping down to zero so the hormonal system does not have to virtually 'go into shock'...Thank you for any feedback.
