I staeted lisinpril htz 20mg feb. 2009 I got a rash on my neck and face when I went outside in the sun, the doctor put me on straight lisinpril 20mg. I had back surgery in june It has been very hard trying to heal my back gets very sore when I get coughing I am thinking very serously about quiting all the meds since the side effects are worse than what it is treating I guess I'll take my chances and try something else natural excersize trying to relax to relieve the stress that causes high blood pressure . I do believe that stress and what we eat (processed and fast food) is the major cause of most high blood pressure. Read that the _____prils can affect your zinc and iron levels, that the lack of iron could cause coughing, and that adding back the iron (not at the same time, and only if you are low in iron) can reduce the cough by over 40%.

My cough has finally stopped and I am still trying to find a drug that works to control my BP with few side effects. I hope you get better soon and I know exactly how you feel.

I was taking lisinopril and had the same violent coughing, i stopped taking it 12 days ago. The coughing has almost stopped but still once or twice a day it happens. I'm a patient care person and its really hard to see patients and cough until you gag or worse. I feel for ya Tyra. the problem with blood pressure meds that make you cough is the Ace Inhibitor in the med. you want a bata blocker.

my husband developed a horrible cough after taking lisinopril. the doctor changed it to amlodipine which caused him a terrible rash that the doctor said was not caused by the medication. he is miserable, now he stills has the cough and a rash to go with it. this doctor prescribed 2 nasal sprays and 2 different inhalers plus lunesta causing us to dish out a lot of money when it all started with the blood pressure medication. of course his blood pressure is high, he can't sleep because of horrible cough. monday he is seeing a new doctor in hopes of getting better. i can definitely relate to all of you.

I have been taking blood pressure & cholesterol pills for years and have this persistant cough that will not go away, no matter what I do - can it be due to the blood pressure medication or my cholesterol one? I am taking generic forms, not the brand names... Please advise since this cough is very annoying and it's also very disruptive. Thank you for your help.
