Until last February, I used Warrick inhalers. Warrick was switched to Armstrong without comment and I could tell immediately that they weren't as good. Good CPC inhalers are what we need, not mediocre ones. One HFA inhaler made my asthma worse, another, Pro-Air just didn't work, both gave me a an MSG-like head. Somehow, the public needs to know what's going on, local TV would be good, a concentrated effort (media launch) would be better.

Nelly, the syndrome you are complaining about is linked to HFA albuterol- although I doubt that the albuterol sulfate is the problem- get some Warrick CFC albuterol from Gillespie's- I don't remember seeing the syndrome you described being associated with CFC inhalers. You can get Warrick from Gillespie's drug store- phone # is on the upper right corner of the petition: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/saveCFCinh... Good Luck P.S. Email me at sponsor@savecfcinhalers.org for a less expensive CFC alternative. |

I was swithed to the Pro-Air last October. I had an asthma attack for the first time in over 15 years because the pro-air did nothing for me.
I now have to take advair (steroid) to control my asthma. For 15 years the albuterol worked for me and due to this change I now need to take an inhaled steroid. Seems so unfair that the government has control over the way we breathe.......... Yes I agree save the enviroment but I want to know I wont end up in a hospital again for another attack. |

I just turned 21. I had a particularly bad case of Asthma. on a good day, i only have to use my inhaler twice. I've just been informed that my Armstrong inhaler (which i already knew was bad) will no longer be made. Abuterol itself. For something else. What will happen to me if it doesn't work?

OK here is the deal. The environmental wackos we have all been being led down the garden path by, have made the government take CFC's out of all propellant use. That means that all of the COPD and asthma people are responsible for the hole in the ozone layer. BS! Why can there not be a medical exemption for CFC's? I cannot believe that enough gets into the air to cause a problem and even if it does cause some measurable difference, who cares if no one that has one of these conditions cannot enjoy the air anyway. The new Pro-Air etc are all powders and need to be inhaled deeply, who was the master mind that figured this out? So far, Canada still has the Armstrong until the end of the year. I just bought all that my pharmacist had left, 6 packages. I will post a Canadian source if it turns out to be reliable. Good luck to you all, it should be illegal to kill us!

I have had asthma since I was a child. I found I could control it with the Warwick inhaler. I would normally start getting allergy induced asthma around middle to late August and after about a week with the Warwick inhaler all would be fine. This year I have been prescribed the ProAir inhaler. I have deleloped brochitis and now the doctor says I have COPD and Emphysema I have been through 2 inhalers in the last two months and I still can not breath. Please bring back the Warwick inhaler. You are no long helping the environment you are keeping people from being able to breathe!

My son has had asthma since he was 3 years old, he had me read website and I strongly urge all family members to get involved. Letter writing is a great way to get our message across. I for one will be writing letters to anyone and everyone I can think of.

I have been on ProAir for 3 weeks and i'm suffering hard. I noticed it right away but continued to try to use the ProAir. I use i way more frequently because it doesn't work and now i think i'm overdosing. I'm confused, sweaty, tingling hands & feet, chest pain. I phoned my doctor 2 hours ago and still haven't heard back. I don't want to use this inhaler any more but i know if i don't i'll have an extended stay in the hospital. I'm am a single mother with 2 children that can't afford to go to the hospital. This is ridiculous. I can't believe that they would take away life saving medicine but keep deodarant and other aersol products. By the way i've had asthma my whole life and have always used the same inhaler. I think now i'm going to have to resort to using my nebulizer, at least that works.

Sign the petition and stay tuned for our first in a series of press releases starting this month that will expose this unprecedented medical scandal- we will fight to amend the US Clean Air Act and abolish FDA Final Rule 21 CFR 2.125 in order to permanently legalize CFC metered-dose inhalers:
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/saveCFCinh... Millions of pulmonary patients will shove this CFC inhaler ban down the throats of the FDA, the EPA, the American Lung Association, the Asthma and Allergy Network Mothers of Asthmatics, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, and any MDs who are too stupid to stay the hell out of our way, and make them choke on it. The festivities will begin on or about 1/1/09, when the CFC albuterol ban takes effect, and everyone finally learns about it. |

i also too agree with everyone. i'm actually scared for my health now i've had to use my albuterol inhaler all my life and i'm 24, and all of a sudden i have no choice but to pay more money for a drug that's pretty much my life saver, and to find out that it doesn't even work. This is a serious issue and i think if enough people stand and say this drug isn't working hopefully we can sleep a little better knowing we're safe..

--THis pro-air is a joke. And I agree --what gives them the right to take away a drug we are all depending on to BREATHE!! |

Teva is the manufacturer and i went to their website to the "contact us" form. guess what - it wouldnt go through. this is a horrible product and i am sure many lives will suffer! i have asthma and COPD and this product simply does not work. i started out with a Warrick brand of albuterol and i felt wonderful, never a problem. then for some reason, warrick was "phased" out and armstrong became the supplier. now the drug company wants to do their part for CFCs in the environment - so... they take OUT a something, give it new packaging, chart 3 x the org. amount because it is no longer "generic" and the product doesn't work we really should have some say in this somewhere. may when insur companies have to start paying for er visits for breating treatments or admission, maybe they will lend their voice. or maybe, God foribd, one of us cannot recover and TEVA will have one hell of a lawsuit.

I just switched to Pro Air also but cause the Rx told me they no longer supplied the Armstrong version. It is giving me heart palpitations!!! just like other powder inhalents. I need my Armstrong back!!!

I just became aware of the CFC ban and while I don't deny Global Warming and the need to protect the environment, we are talking about a product people need to BREATHE! When denied yesterday by my pharmacist, I found myself panicked. While at the same time, I found myself happy that I found this forum, and I believe united we can fight for the right to BREATHE. I have not read the Law yet, but I'm sure they have not banned ALL CFC products, and I personally do not believe RESCUE INHALERS should not have been LAST. I encourage you all - do your research, write your Congressman, maybe sign the petition above. United we can hopefully win.
