Thanks. I think this is the aspirin/ibuprofen family, which I must avoid due to my Crohn's Disease.
I don't know if it is or not. It's a stronger version of Aleve. It can cause stomach upset. Other than that, I've had no side effects. Don't know how it is with Crohn's. I'm sorry you have to suffer with that.

I suffer from chronic pain and I don't know what I would do without Vicodin. I already can't find Oxycodone, which is basically Vicodin without the acetaminophin because the FDA recommended it be pulled from pharmacies because of abuse. I can't take ibuprofen or aspirin because it interferes with the anti-coagulants I have to take. What am I supposed to do? There are many fancy pain meds available but nothing works like good old fashioned narcotics. When taken sensibly, they are very effective and very safe.

Take away all drugs. Make all drugs prescription-only. Dispense drugs in specially made dispensers that only open at an interval that is ordered by the doctor. Create a new department in the FDA to monitor these devices electronically. Just don't bother to educate people. They are too stupid to take drugs on their own.

The only real problem I see is primarily with combination-medicines. If you have symptoms Drug A from medicine ABC and symptons for Drug B from medicine XYZ, you might end up with too much Drug C that is in both medicines. And, if Drug C is the bad drug, acetominephen and you take that as well, you potentially overdose.--- Of course, this comes back to people being too stupid to follow directions and read labels and add 2 + 1 + 3.

Naprocin (Aleve) (used to be Rx only but now otc) is an NSAID (non-steroid anti-inflammatory) like Ibuprofen (Motrin). They are great pain relievers but over time or in large doses can take a toll on your gastro-intestinal tract and liver. Tylenol (acetominophen), was thought to be a more benign medicine, but it turns out that or over-use (especially in alcohol users) can cause liver damage. Many people do not follow directions on labels, or combine otc meds with bad results. The rise in numbers of people showing up with liver damage have probably caused this alarm. Best taken as directed and in the case of the NSAIDS with food. Chronic pain is a real drain on one's quality of life, but can be managed if you read labels carefully.

Obama health care at work even before he puts his crap bill up for a vote. Some don't understand that label and doctor instructions should be followed, therefore the Obama imps believe that the dosage levels should be lowered and some medications should be taken away altogether.

I can't help that idiots refuse to follow the label instructions or even refuse to read the labels. Next thing we can expect is that what pain relief medicines remain after these imps get their way is that we will have to sign out these medications and that the amount of the medications will be limited! The end result: Obama's drug smuggling supporters will have a new source of illegal income!

So, just wondering. Were you that pissed at W when he signed the bill that restricted sales of all effective decongestants because their key ingredient, pseudoephedrine, can be used to make meth? It's a pain in the neck to not be able to buy both DayQuil and NyQuil when you have a cold, isn't it?

sorry for your loss, so young. crazy how they approve these drugs in the first place then act like they are the saving grace of the public by "urging" bans on products they endorsed and made available, and got paid for, in the past.

Nice try at obfuscation! The issue is the reduction in dosage, not the availability of the medication. Those that are at risk misues the medication in the first place!

Your answer doesn't make any sense. Read the article again and really pay attention to the part where it clearly states the panel recommended making Percocet and Vicodin unavailable. You lose. Nice use of a 25 cent word though.

Yes, naprosyn is related to ibuprofen... it's used for arthritic pain, and usually only works if you have some form of inflammation issue related to an auto-immune issue such as arthritis.

Tylenol is relatively safe if you follow the guidelines. It should NOT be taken long term...and you should NOT exceed 4,000mg in a day ever!
And if you have liver problems, drink heavily, you should never take since it is mainly filtered though the liver. Ibuprofen can be an alternative, but you should never exceed more than 2,000 mg in a day... and it is filtered through your kidneys mainly, so again...if you have kidney issues you should NOT Take. Even if you have chronic bladder or kidney infections, it is too hard on your kidneys!
Hope that helps to educate everyone a little bit.
