Diabetes Drug Questioned

A widely used diabetes drug may not be as good as doctors think, according to a recent review.

Actos has lowered my fasting glucose considerably. I was starting to have fasting sugar levels of mid 200s and sometimes as high as 300. Since adding ACTOs to my amyral and metaformin, fasting levels are usually between 136 and 168 or so. I don't want to go on insulin and have had type 2 for 16 years and feel OK.

I did notice a little weight gain after adding ACTOS.

One of the comments indicated that ACTOS increases insulin. I was under the impression that it reduced the resistance to insulin which I suspect is my main problem.

There is another drug (alpha-lipoic acid) which is supposed to help control glucose levels, or improve the effectiveness of insulin.

I had a bottle of 500mg metaformin that smelled like fish oil. Just wondering if anyone else has ever had that problem? Or does anyone know why it smelled like that.

My neighbor's family has Diabetes history. His mother was died because of it. Last year he tried Isotonix Isochrome with OPC. Now, he is much better and have a more healthier life. He recommands me OPC now since I don't have Diabetes. I just start taking OPC now. I post two links for some of you to take a look. I am sure they would help since it does helped my neighbor.

Dr had me taking 45mg of Actos but had to reduce it to 30mg due to edema. The Actoes along with 750mg of Metaformin 3 times a day, 4mg of Amyral daily, and 20 units of Lantis at bedtime I hav a fasting sugar between 90 and 130. I will however be asking my doctor about this study.

I am new to this forum, so not sure how it works. Here goes: Have had Diabetes 2 for 5 years. After years of chemicals, I had my first visit to a Naturepathic doctor. She says she can help me with natural sources so I can get off the drugs. Anyone had any experience with this?

i have read the comments of others . i am of the opinion that avandia or actos per se do not reduce the blood sugar unless taken in conjunction with sulphonyleureas or metformin. one should not delay the insulin treatment only waiting for these oral medicines to work in type 2 diabetes , as someone has written

i feel most naturopathic treatments can work upto a certain extent , after which you need not rely too much on these

insulin has a preservative which has a peculier smell, it otherwise does not contain any vinegar

mine had been the oppsite added actos and levels have been so high total loss of control stop taking it to day !!!1
was on advandis and it worked perfectly for me
