I don't know about periodontal disease but I can tell everyone that within a week of starting Actonel my hair stopped falling out. It was falling out when I started Fosamax which also gave me severe joint pain and I envisioned myself in a wheel chair. I took it for six weeks and kept getting worse and worse. I stopped it immediately and after a few months I started Actonel. My hair had still been falling out by the handful. Within days of Actonel my hair stopped falling out and I thought it was the exercise and sweating but I was already doing that. It is now waist length. All my life I wanted waist lenght hair and after 2 years it is there and my BDS says I have not only stopped the bone loss but have actually reversed it. My doctor was thrilled.

I wrote about my hair last night and no one replied. Maybe I did something wrong.

So you was able to reverse the bone loss between your teeth so you didn't loose any of them? I'm between advanced and (mid level) periodontal disease. A dentist told me that my teeth may fall out after having the tarter removed from my teeth. So I've been looking for alternative solutions to this bone loss problem. It seems to me that if the body can repair other bones throughout the body and rebuild them why can't the body repair the bone loss between the the teeth to help keep them more secure and not loose.

I am starting to have stomach problems due to Actonel even tho I am very careful to follow the directions for taking it.

Does anyone know anything about the effectiveness of taking 1 tablet every other week instead of 1 a week.

I have pre osteoporosis not full blown.

HI Ron! I am been seeing this dental group, of whom I wish I had never had to chance of knowing...I was diagnosed with same as you and have lost one of my teeth last week. I have been seen by three of the dentists at this office and each one gives me same story and how much I should get the implants done. Well he said I need 4-6 implants however, the cost of them each is about 3,000. So how are we supposed to get this done? I have taken care of my teeth all my life and dont understand how this could have happend. My dentist said because I have had four back surgeries and on heavy meds which in turn damaged my teeth...what do we do?

I was told by my dentist while there for a cleaning that I was starting to have bone loss of the upper back molers (only those 2 actually). I informed her of my taking Actonel once a month for osteoporosis and asked if it would help the loss of bone with the 2 teeth in the back. She replied she didn't really know. Does anyone know?
Also, how long does it take Actonel to work to restore the bone loss from osteoporosous? one year, two years???? I've ben on it for 1 year and 3 mos. At what point do I have another bone density done?

Bone loss drugs can also cause the opposite effect. Osteonecrosis of the Jaw is often the main topic in Fosamax Lawsuits. http://www.fosamaxfemurfracturelawsuit.com/fe...

I don't know of a solution, but if you find one let me know...I have the same problem.

I don't know about Actonel, or any biphosphonate for that matter, supposedly helping anyone's dental health. All I know is that I try to stay away from biphosphonates when I have any form of dental procedure done on me. Fossy Jaw is something I've been avoiding.

This is some good news. Thank you so much for this info as some bone loss drugs like bisphosphonates are actually more harmful to teeth and gums than helpful. http://www.fosamaxclassactionlawsuit.com

It is good to know that medical researchers continue to discover added benefits from osteoporosis drugs. Despite the adverse effects that have been linked to bone drugs like Fosamax, it helps to know that they have other benefits too. However, that doesn't change the fact that adverse effects may still be imminent. Fosamax, for instance, has been linked to femur fractures which has disheartened many patients as osteoporosis drugs are meant to prevent them. You may also refer to http://www.fosamaxfemurfracturelawsuit.com for more information.

My teeth have started to come loose. I have Chronic Idiopathic Neuopenia. I understand some people don't realize they have this condition until their teeth become loose. It is a blood disorder.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Cancer

The question of who and what you should believe is never far away today. Someone could easily mislead you, although it's a moot point whether they do this intentionally or not. Or there could be a communication glitch that means no one knows what's going on. Be very careful when handling money because there could be lots of silly mistakes, and if you're really unlucky there might also be some double-dealing too.
