Aciphex, or Protonix didnt work for me. I found out that i had to use a food 30min to an hour later to stimulate acid production for these products to even work. THat cost me money to figure that out because I had to go to GI to find out that important info!

aciphex is the least effective of the ppi's. you're better off with nexium or protonix because studies show these medicines to be the most potent.

I have taken two aciphex's 20 mg a day and It has been GREAT. I've tried Nexium, Prilosec, rinitidine and the aciphex worked best. It is very expensive though.

I took prilosec for a number of years, and I continued to suffer from pain due to erosion of the esophogus due to acid reflux. I frequently had difficulty sleeping due to the discomfort. About 4 months ago, my doctor suggested that I try something "stronger", and prescribed Aciphex (20mg). It works EXTREMELY well-- it totally relieved all of my symptoms. It is very expensive; fortunately it is mostly covered by my health insurance.

I've been taking Aciphex for about 3 years. My health insurance wanted me to change to prilosec. They even sent me coupons for free prilosec. I tried it and it worked while I was taking pills, but when your waiting to take the next set the acid would come back. Luckily my doctor fought my insurance and I am back on Aciphex. I was told to take it every day. I noticed it worked for at least three days at a time and I asked my doctor if I could take it every other day instead and he said that was fine. Costs less for me now that I take less and I am pain free. Aciphex is good stuff.

I was on Prevacid for 6 yrs (30mg twice a day) and it gradually quit working. I tried Protonix and was better but not quit good enough. So I tried Aciphex and I have been on it for 3 years. Expensive but it works for me. I've thought about switching back to Prevacid to see how it would do again (to save $).

I've used rinitidine and it work taking 150mg. However, I had a GI bleed brought on by asprin and my Dr. gave me Aciphex to shut down the acid fast. Within 24 hours all pain was gone. I then discovered the $$ and asked if there was something less expensive. He prescribed Protonix. I tried it for a few weeks and every few days I'd get the pain back. I'm back on Aciphex...one pill in the morning...problem gone. The Dr. said that it depends on the individual. My 2 cents anyway...make that dollars.
