I have been on aciphex for well over a year and have developed severe headaches. I had read that this could be a side effect of aciphex but was wandering if anyone that had developed headaches noticed them being brought on by any specific thing (movement, straining, bending over etc.) I have had MRIs and gone through a ton of tests before finding that these migrains could possibly be caused by this med. I have only been off of it for a little over a week and have noticed a considerable difference in not having soreness in my hands/joints and also in not haveing headaches.

I have been on Aciphex for 17 months. At just over 12 months, this past summer 2007, I started to get joint soreness in my fingers and what I as a layman would call "water on the knee" in one of my knees. There is a feeling of fullness but no pain in the knee unless I squat or otherwise completely bend the knee, which I simply can't do due to pain and what feels like excess fluid in the knee.
The pain gradually increased over the last few months to the point that I decided to stop the Aciphex five weeks ago to see if that would have any effect. The joint soreness is about 70% better and the knee is about 50% better. I am definitely going in the right direction.
I am grateful for some corroboration of what I am going through. I did not find the joint soreness in any of the side-effect literature, but then the clinical studies did not extend beyond a few months.
Many thanks!!!

I know it can cause headaches but I am not sure about migraines. I would think that they would have developed fairly soon after beginning the med vs several months later. I feel lucky that even after several years, I have noticed no side effects. Have you have a full eye exam since this has begun? Sometimes eye problems will cause migraines.

I was recently (a few days ago) on the medication that is known as Aciphex....I developed some dizzyness and headaches from it...I stopped taking it. Since then (approximatly 3 to 4 days) I have been off of it, my headaches have decreased and I spoke with my doctor about 5 minutes ago 3:20 pm EST and he said, the headaches are common side effects of it. "A headache, is a headache." I have to note that they have been decreasing in severity since I have been off of Aciphex...hopefully they vanish as if they never appeared.

Goodluck, you can outlast the headache! they do go away!

I am currentley taking aciphex for heartburn and stomach ulsars or something. But the first two days I have taken aciphex i noticed tightness in my chest and went to the doctor once again. They said i had athsma and it just happend at the same time i was taking the medicine and said it was not a side-effect. But four to five days later i have been havving this massive migrain and i am wondering if the aciphex is causeing this to happen.

Im only a sophmore in high school and it sucks because im not able to pay attention to the lessons and stay awake, so are these migrains im having caused by aciphex?
