Section 967. Gastrointestinal.

"Colitis"..........a nd more.

They warn people about these things for a reason and when you blow off this information and plow forward you learn they were serious.

Nothing like chronic intestinal problems as one of many things that go wrong when taking this rat poisen.

3 years = 6 rounds of accutane. Seriously do you expect me to believe that?

Funny how these doctors and dermatologists actually poisen their own children with multiple rounds of chemo rat poisen.

Shows you the complete disregard and LAZYNESS for solid nutrition, which by the way they are clueless about.

They are brainwashed by their medical journals which are written and controlled by the Pharma industry, The NIH and the AMA. Of course NOTHING IS CAUSED BY FOOD, but here, "Eat these pills".

Doctors only recieve less than 10 hours of nutrition in college. Its all about pushing drugs.

But "she is so smart". Not as far as I'm concerned and you leave something to be desired yourself.

petiactrics. pediatrics.
encredibly. Incredibly.
dermatoligist. Dermatologist.
acutane. Accutane.

"Dont be scared of accutane at all"

Dont come on here with that irresponsible advice when you haven't even experienced this drug. This board is full of permanently injured people and I can find many more like them on the web.

You are all so very wrong about the drug Accutane. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG. YES IT WILL help your acne but the price you pay is not worth it. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis roughly one year after taking a 6 month supply.
Now my life has taken a turn for the very worst. Do you want to spend most of your day on the toilet? Yes, you will visit the bathroom 20 times a day only to watch bits and pieces of your colon mixed with blood get flushed.
You will be waken up in the middle of the night with the urgency to go take a dump. Pain in your stomach will be so severe it will literally cripple you to your knees. I can assure you this drug is dangerous drug as I am a victim of injury while taking this. And for what?
Because I was insecure about the way I looked? I told myself that I didn't care about the side effects of accutane, that I just wanted to have a clear face. I regret that choice and please do yourself a life long favor and refuse taking accutane. Your colon will thank you. I am facing surgery to remove my colon and i will have to live with a colostomy bag for the rest of my life.:( I can't work anything more than a deskjob. You take this god awful drug and you are signing your life away.
If you were diagnosed with UC, wouldn't that mean that only the bottom half of your colon was affected by ulcers? Why didn't/don't they do a pull through vs. a colostomy so you wouldn't have to wear the bag?

Now this man's story has to be one of the worst I have heard. UC to the point of a colostomy bag.

I have heard of people developing UC from accutane and I guess it is possible that it can progress to this point.

Unbelieveable.

I feel for the guy.

15 is way too young to be taking accutane!! think what accutane can do to a developing fetus then think about how much your body is still growing as a teenager. I know someone who died as a result of this drug causing damage to their intestines.

I was on accutane for exactly 4 months. I started to get slight stomach cramping in my upper left and right abdomen around the middle of the 3rd month. This is when I decided I would stop early, and I'm glad I did. My Dr. said it was probably not due to the accutane, and pushed me to finish the treatment. I didn't want to risk the long term stomach problems so i stopped. The stomach pain has mainly gone away, but I am having a lot of gas now, and bubbling in my stomach that I can feel, and just today I had severe cramping that went all the way up to the middle of my sternum (terrified me, but went away after 30 mins), but I have also been drinking this past weekend have had coffee every day all week. I know, not smart. I think a small percentage of people just can't handle accutane. Unfortunately, I am one of them.

I just saw one of those ads on TV that say..."if you or a family member have taken this drug and in a result have severe stomach problems etc... call these lawyers now". It was about Accutane. I took that not just for one "cycle(about 7-8 months) but twice. A few months ago my stomach would hurt soooo bad when i would eat I would cry. I am so bloated and have gained about thirty pounds. My stomach got so bad that i went to a special stomach doctor. they put a little camera down my throat to see the inside of my stomach. Im now convinced the accutane caused my problems. The doctors said nothing was wrong. I dont believe it. my stomach has never been the same.

HI! Im 23 years old and i start accutane in about 2 wks. i am VERY nervous about starting b.c of the bad side affects but i have tried literally everything to clear up my face and nothing has worked! ive always had beautiful skin until i got pregnant. NEVER had problems with acne. the doctor said that once my daughter was born the acne would get better. he was wrong. it is worse. my daughter is now 3 years old. they have tested my hormones and all. everything was normal. i now have acne scars, cystic acne, etc. i just want pretty skin again. unfotunately i have another issue. since ive had my little girl ive been diagnosed with GERD, GASTRITIS, IBS. it gets really painful at times and this is one of my MAIN concerns about getting on accutane. i am really worried it will only aggravate that problem and i have finally got my pain level from all this down. just dont want to start it up all over again. anyone have any suggestions????

If you have gastric problems and IBS I wouldn't ever put accutane into your mouth. You are only asking to futher the problems and possibly developing IBD or Chron's.

There are other solutions to your acne even cystic and they are much safer.

Hi- Sorry to hear about your problems. I went on a course of accutane over the last 6 months. very low dose, but I do believe there is something in the binders in accutane (Roche and equivalent brands)(i.e not the active ingredient isotretinoin) that can have a bad effect on the stomach, because I was seriously thinking I had IBS. That is how bad my stomach was.

I did take vitamin D, and probiotics that I bought in vitamin shoppe. That seemed to help a bit. I also bought another brand of isotretinoin from Urantiapharma.com called CIPLA. That brand had no effect on the stomach- it was all good. When I went back to Roaccutane- the stomach issues would start again, so I think I did a pretty controlled experiment.

If I were you, I would stick with something mild, like CIPLA. Especially if you already have issues with the stomach. Also low dose isotretinoin will help heal acne scars. Just don't pick- we all do it, but try not to.

Hope this helps

I forgot to mention -Add 5 prunes to your morning meal everyday. It will help you get very regular fast and naturally and is very gentle on the stomach.

I was antibiotics for acne for ages and they made me very ill. minomicin didn't work and gave me prigment problems. after years i tried accutane and suffered only chapped lips. It worked perfectly and i think it was the best thing i ever did. I wish i did it earlier.

However, the acne began to return about three years later and i have just begun my second course.
